Once Luan stepped into the car and buckled up, he looked around curiously. The last car he remembered seeing was much different, and the outside appearance had changed as well. But after years and years of walking on foot and dealing with intense nausea from teleportation magic, as his body wasn't suited for magic and repelled it, there was little to nothing that could be as bad as that, right?
He was wrong. He was so very wrong, as they had to stop the car at some rest stop to let him get over this equally nauseating and head-throbbing ache. Was this car infused with magic? No, that wasn't possible.. He just took deep breaths before going back into the car. Thankfully, not having to throw up or faint. Perhaps it was a little better than teleportation magic, as one or the other would always happen afterwards.
When he stepped onto the premises, he looked around at the two-story home and the ground surrounding it. The grass was cut and the tree in the front bore a strange orange and red, yet also yellow fruit... he had to make sure it wasn't poisonous, in case his nephew might eat it one day.
"Uncle Luan; over here is where you unlock the door. You insert the key and turn it this way before entering."
Polaris showed him by motioning his hands before handing over the house key. Stepping back to let Luan open the door and walk in first.
His nephew was the purest child to ever exist! Always putting others first like a saint despite living through so much. Luan felt proud of every little thing Polaris did, as it only further proved how amazing his nephew chose to be.
The key went in with a sound he'd never heard before; one that sounded gritty yet mechanical in some way with a light jingle from the other keys hitting against each other with the movement. Then he twisted it in the direction Polaris showed him and he twisted it back before pulling it out.
Looking over at Polaris, who gave a nod and a thumbs up, he felt warm. He impressed his nephew! What a cool uncle he is!
He turns his head back to the door and grabs the round doorknob.
It was cold and smooth in his hand, and it rattled lightly at the touch. He tried to pull, then push, then he twisted it and pulled again.
Puzzled, he twisted the doorknob and pushed it open.
Yay!
He watched it swing open slowly and it didn't show easily on his face, but he was thoroughly pleased with himself. He figured out how to open this mechanical door after years and years of being away and didn't need to ask any questions! He solved it quickly and must've looked so cool in front of his nephew. Really, who's to stop him now?? He felt like the coolest man alive!
As he steps inside, he looks around and takes note of everything. How there was a bookshelf on his left side filled to the brim with books organized by color next to a window. There was a small round table in front of the wind complemented by a stool and a thick book to compliment it. On his left, there was a couch and a large TV. There was also a window that shone light onto the couch.
The windows had rolled-down curtains, which seemed much more efficient than the ones he was used to seeing, so the light wasn't totally strong. It was fairly dark.
Then, Polaris stepped in not long after Luan did and closed the door, turned on the light in a split moment, and began taking off his shoes.
Was this magic as well?? Amazing..! No chants or mana was used; he could tell, as there was no pressure in his head or any nosebleeds from what he could see. What was this new world he woke up to?
