The group emerged from the grand Sapphire Auditorium, their minds buzzing with questions and apprehensions.

The transition from the opulent confines of the auditorium to the unknown expanse outside was a stark reminder of the true gravity of their situation.

As they stepped into the deserted cityscape, their eyes took in the eerie scene before them.

The landscape, formerly well-known for its expansive city bazaars and bustling streets, were now devoid of life, with only the occasional gusts of wind stirring up swirls of dust.

Buildings loomed like silent sentinels, their windows reflecting the muted sunlight that filtered through the overcast sky.

Reza glanced around, taking note of their surroundings. "We should split up into smaller groups to cover more ground," he suggested, his voice echoing in the empty streets.

Jo nodded in agreement. "That sounds like a plan. Let's meet back here in two hours," she proposed, her eyes scanning the area for any signs of movement.

Before they dispersed, they took inventory of the supplies they had been provided with. The authoritative Veronica had thought ahead, ensuring their basic needs were met. They found hygiene facilities tucked away in a nearby building, along with enough food rations to sustain them for at least two months.

As they explored the city, each group encountered remnants of the past civilization that once thrived there. Abandoned storefronts hinted at the products and services that were once offered. Faded posters and billboards provided glimpses into the culture and events that shaped the city.

Mason and Aren, always curious, wandered into what appeared to be a park. They marveled at the overgrown greenery reclaiming the space, a stark contrast to the concrete jungle they had left behind.

Haneen and Reza, the pragmatic duo, scouted for potential sources of water and shelter, their analytical minds working to ensure the group's survival in the long run.

As they regrouped after two hours, they shared their findings and observations. Despite the desolation of the city, there was a sense of unity and purpose among them.

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a golden hue over the abandoned city, Aren looked around at his companions.

They were strangers brought together by mysterious circumstances, but in that moment, they felt like allies in a world filled with uncertainties.

"We may not know what lies ahead," Haneen said, her gaze steady, "but as long as we stick together, we can face it head-on."

Evelyn, though visibly nervous, squared her shoulders. "We can do this. Together."

Qasim, with his characteristic pessimism, couldn't help but interject. "Let's hope for the best, I suppose," he muttered, his tone tinged with doubt.

... ... ... ... ... ...

The final moments before midnight seemed to stretch indefinitely, each heartbeat echoing in the stillness of the night.

The anticipation was almost suffocating, a collective breath held in anticipation of what was to come.

Then, as the clock struck midnight, the lights flickered once, twice, before plunging the area into darkness. The group tensed, their senses on high alert as they braced for whatever challenges the night would bring.

Suddenly, a voice broke through the silence, low and ominous.

"Welcome to the game," the voice echoed, sending a shiver down the spines of the gathered participants. "Let the hunt begin."
