Chp 1 | Call To Action

Present Day | Andre's POV

I take out the Mellohi music disc from my chest and place it in my jukebox. As the music plays I look out my window and view the city from my residence. It's an abandoned tower that looks a lot like the space needle. It has a single access point only reachable via elytra. The inside has a farm on the second floor, and my bed, kitchen, armory, and enchantment room on the first. Despite it being in a city, it's pretty secluded, which is perfect for some like me. It's also quite cozy.

As I peer out my window, I self reflect on my current life. No friends, no family, I'm a lone wolf, for good reason. When I was in the military, my teammates died while under my leadership. Now I'm a vigilante, protecting the people of this city from those who wish to do harm to them. Last thing I need is someone close to me for them to go after and hurt or kill. When doing work like this, it's best you leave those close to you out of it, or just prevent people from getting close to you all together. It's a life I chose, and while it seems sad, I'm quite content with it.

After a while of staring at my own reflection in the tinted window, and the view of the city simultaneously, I decide to go on patrol. I grab my now enchanted bow and my two enchanted crossbows, some food, and I put on my stealth suit. Lastly I grab some fireworks and put on my elytra. I head to the center of the room, look upwards and jump, using the firework rocket to propel me through the little hole I made at the top of the tower. The city I live in is much smaller compared to the main one just north of here. Suppose you could call it a town rather than a city. Due to this, it didn't take long to patrol the area, there was nothing going on, so I headed to the cargo port just southeast of the town.

When I arrived I saw pillagers raiding the place, killing the workers and putting holes in every container they came across. I took action and crouched, releasing purple smoke around me. I was now invisible, so I got closer to one of the pillagers and cocked my crossbow, aimed at his head, then fired. That got his attention, he turned around and began cocking his crossbow, but I killed him before he could finish the job. I spotted a couple more walking around, completely oblivious to my presence. I took them out quickly, then made my way over to the containers that were being raided.

My invisibility wore off, so I was spotted instantaneously. I started taking heavy crossbow fire, so I took cover behind one of the containers. I took out my crossbow enchanted with multi shot and re-enabled my invisibility. I came from behind the container and started shooting, knocking the three pillagers back. I kept this going until they were dead, which didn't take long. After some observation, I noticed they took nothing, which made me realize they were looking for something specific.

With this information, I searched for more pillagers, and lo and behold, I find five of them on top of a cargo ship, attempting to steal from what appears to be a shulker box hidden on top. "Someone was trying to hide something." I stated as I descend on top of one of the ship to shore cranes just above the pillagers. I proceeded to take out my bow and snipe them from up top, they retaliate by shooting, so I take cover and switch to my multi shot bow. I sent a barrage of arrows their way and watched them all drop like flies. Once the job was done, I flew down to check the contents of the box. Everything was there, so I left it as is.

I return to my perch on the crane and look at the damage, it's not too bad, but somebody's gonna have to pay, and they'll be pissed when they see this. I hear someone behind me, I switch to my bow and turn around, aiming the fully cocked bow at the stranger. "Move another inch and the cops will have to fish your body out of the ocean." I state in a harsh tone, looking him up and down for signs of weapons. "Whoa whoa whoa, put the bow down, I'm not here to fight." he responds in a rather reassuring tone, but I'm far from convinced. "Whats with the sneaking then?" I ask, the harshness of my voice subsiding slightly. "Given what you just did, I didn't think just popping up would be the best move. Evidently, this wasn't either, but I figured I'd run just a little less of a risk of getting shot if I snuck up on you. Guess I was right."

('_'=Inner thoughts) 'So he's been stalking me this entire time, he has intel on me. I would normally drop someone who did this, but he's shown no signs of ill intent, so I'll give him the benefit of doubt.' "Who are you, what do you want, and why are you stalking me?" I ask as I put away my bow. Should he try anything, I can use my quick charge crossbow and send an arrow through his skull, easily. "Who I am is classified to you until further notice, what I want and why I've been following you however, that I can disclose." "I've been sent to track you down, which wasn't easy but the way, you are very elusive." "That's the point." I interject, starting to rethink my decision not to shoot him. I really don't like being tracked down, no matter the reason. "Your services are needed once more soldier, lives are at stake and you're the only one who can help us."

Now I'm intrigued, "Help you with what?"
His voice lowers "Help us stop the end of the world."
