NOTE: The case is based on real-life case. I only changed some information, especially the personal ones. But the case itself is real.

"WHAT ARE YOUR thoughts about this?" Cadence placed a brown folder on the table, and her eyes automatically followed the document. Just like before, may nakadikit na QR code roon, in case she wants to view the file on her phone.

Kinuha niya ang folder at saka binuksan iyon. Documents were all stapled, and she flipped to the page that contains the incident report.

The report stated that on the night of June 29, a woman named Belinda appeared to the station. Nanginginig daw ito at umiiyak, and her clothes were torn, too. Her wrists were. . . tied with a rope.

Umawang ang kanyang mga labi sa nabasa at sumikip ang kanyang dibdib. Parang. . . 'di niya kayang ituloy ang kung ano man ang nakasulat sa papel, but she knows that she needs to muster the strength to do so.

Fuck. The woman. . .

She was. . . harassed!

"This. . . What the heck," 'di niya maiwasang bulalas habang nakatitig sa dokyumento. She's still on the first paragraph, and there was something at the pit of her stomach that stops her from reading the document's entirety.

"Continue if you're ready," Cadence muttered, his eyes on his phone. Clearly, he had been reading the case again on his phone.

Licking her lower lip, she continued reading what was written. According to the victim, Belinda, someone had attempted to rape her, but the man immediately fled away when she screamed her lungs out. Parang natakot ito sa sigaw niya kaya kaagad itong tumakbo paalis.

Her forehead knotted upon reading that, especially when the victim stated that she had been receiving threats from someone whose initial is 'N', leading the victim to conclude that the one who harassed did not attempt to rape her, but rather, to execute the threat.

And the victim only knew one person whose initial is N. . .

Her best friend. . . and her husband's ex.

Sa mga susunod na pahina, naroon ang picture ng sinasabing 'death threats', and the threats were kind of written in a symbolic language.

"So, this woman named Nadine. . . what are her intentions?" tanong niya rito habang nagpalipat-lipat ng page upang hanapin ang sworn statement ng defendant.

"She's jealous. She wants to take Belinda's husband back." Cadence shrugged and clicked his tongue. "Officer Amado sent me a footage of the interview. She seemed so. . . determined and sure. It was as if she had already practiced what she would answer to the questions thrown at her."

"Do you think. . . she's a pawn?" Her eyes scanned the defendant's sworn statement. Wala itong naisagot no'ng itinanong ito kung saan nito nahanap ang lalaki na nag-harass sa biktima.
