Luka stormed into Gabriel's place like lightning. Bloodied and goal in hand, Marcus lay on the floor.
"What happened?" Luka inquired.
"I don't know," Gabriel replied. "He was attacked. He had to cover quite a distance in wolf form. He collapsed."
"How is he?"
"He'll be okay. The wounds are superficial. Help me lift him."
"He's as heavy as an elephant!" Luka complained. "The hospital is crowded. Thankfully, we don't have any fatalities from the attack, but there are many wounded. Let's take him to Dr. Avalon!"
"To the gynecology ward?" Gabriel smiled.
"It's the only one available, and it's the closest."
Gabriel nodded.
Marcus began to stir. His eyelids felt heavy. His vision was blurry. His eyes slowly adjusted to the light. He found himself on some strange chair, slowly turning his head, which throbbed terribly. He was in a hospital room. The walls were white. The furniture, pale green. It looked like a dentist's office.
"The light is too bright," he thought to himself.
He caught a whiff of a woman's scent and something else, some sort of disinfectant. He was naked in that strange chair, with his hips covered by a white towel.
"Hm... you're starting to wake up. You've been a good boy so far, go back to sleep a little longer. I'll be done soon," he heard a pleasant female voice.
His vision slowly cleared. He saw a female figure dressed in a pink hospital gown with a green cap on her head and a mask over her face. A red strand of hair peeked out from under the cap. She was leaning over his chest, concentrating on stitching his shoulder.
"Where am I?" he asked sharply.
"In the gynecological outpatient clinic," she replied calmly.
"What am I doing here?" he continued in a harsh tone.
"You're giving birth," she chuckled to herself.
"Pardon?"
He looked at her seriously, then he saw the most beautiful green eyes, laughing at him.
"I'm joking. You were attacked. I haven't done this since college, so please be a little patient. I've cleaned and stitched all your wounds. Luckily for you, they're only superficial. You might have a concussion. The doctor will be here soon to examine you."
"Who are you?" he asked.
"Your gynecologist!" she replied with a smile."I must admit, I've never had such a muscular patient. Don't break my chair. It's new!"
He looked at her bewildered. "You should act professionally!" he said rudely.
She looked at him seriously. Her beautiful eyes were no longer warm, no longer laughing. Her eyebrows formed a "V" shape.
"Professionally?" she asked in a cold tone. "Believe me, I'm very professional. I'm just thinking of how to give you a pap smear. It would be best if I stuck it up your anus," she said coldly. This time he didn't hear any humor in her voice, and he didn't like it.
"I don't like you," he said coldly.
At that moment, Gabriel entered.
"How is he?" he asked.
"Fine. I did a quick examination to assess his general condition and the severity of his injuries. In my opinion, there are no serious injuries. Nevertheless, he should be seen by another doctor and undergo radiological tests for possible internal injuries. His vital signs are good."
"The other doctor is on his way. Thank you, Sabrina," Gabriel said.
The doctor nodded and left the room.
"You brought me to gynecology?" Marcus asked angrily.
"I can see you're okay," Gabriel said calmly."How are you feeling?"
"Like someone hit me with a hammer in the head. And who's that awful woman?"
Gabriel chuckled. "That awful woman, as you call her, is Dr. Sabrina Avalon. All the women in town adore her."
"I'm not a woman!" Marcus growled.
"Well, considering how sensitive you are right now, you're behaving a bit like one. Is the chair not to your liking?" Gabriel laughed.
"Stop it!" Marcus ordered. "This is demeaning."
"Marcus, the town was attacked. Fortunately, we have no casualties, but the hospital is full."
Marcus sighed. "I understand. How bad is the damage?"
"Substantial. We were supposed to start building the Ice Arena. Now we have more pressing matters. What's the last thing you remember?"
"I talked to Luka. He said your communication was cut off. Without thinking, I got in the car and rushed to the Wolf Valley. I was shot while driving and crashed at high speed. I remember getting out of the car and changing shape. I ran all night."
"Do you know who tried to kill you?"
A sinister smile crept onto Marcus's lips. "Someone I was supposed to kill a long time ago."
