Daniella's Pov
A few days later...
Forever until the wheels fall off...
Never thought I would be the one to promise that to the opposite sex after swearing a single life until I meet my demise. As mentioned, countless times, life will forcefully teach you your way is not the ultimate deciding factor when the resilience of fate comes into play regardless of how set you are in your ways, feelings, character and emotions can change over time.
My family was in on the whole thing, and they know how to keep secrets, for sure. I knew something big was coming when I saw Carlos, I just didn't know what it was. His visit made me question a few things because his studies and college parties take a front row seat in his life. I was under the impression everyone was here to discuss Matteo's transition back into a normal life, but I was sorely mistaken.
The venue was perfect with candles and lights with white roses and Lilly's everywhere, littering the roof of the house. Everyone I wanted there was there, and they are my life. My kinda perfect.
I would have chosen the lounge too with not a flower in sight, because what matters most is the people you have in your life and the value they bring. Not the type of wedding.
At this stage, I don't know if I should be pissed at them for colluding behind my back with Matteo or thankful for always having my back and wanting the best for me. The best would obviously be Matteo, not because he is the father of my sons, though that's a bonus, but because he is genuine towards me and always had pure intentions towards me, but the main factor is his unapologetic love. He smothers me with it in every essence of his being. His love gave birth to a personality within myself that was always hidden to protect me.
My family loved him from the start and that's all that matters.
The huge diamond ring on my finger keeps snagging on my clothes, but Matteo made a point to mention on our wedding night that he added two plain platinum bands because he's aware I don't like flashy things. I might just wear one band, but I'll see how this goes.
I love Matteo so much. If I could absorb myself into his body or him into mine, I would do that in the blink of an eye. I know he's still dealing with a lot of emotions daily after what he went through the last few months, but he is so much better mentally now that he has almost fully recovered. I think the biggest mental hurdle was the deceit of his family.
Seeing how Matteo's family operate, I can clearly see that they are like leaches and would only stand by him if they could benefit from him in some way or another or if he displayed the same leach behavior as them. Matteo was carrying the family and business, but now Greg is in charge.
Vito and Gio attended our wedding, but had to leave a few hours later to not cause any suspicion. Matteo cried when he saw Gio. As far as I know, they are very close and you can see that with their interaction just how much they miss each other.
After chasing Amanda away like a dog and expecting the kids to accept it, was the last straw. Julian has become more mature, and I love that for him. Dad has been showing him the ropes and he's doing well.
I don't like mafia related discussions and always steer far away from any conversation relating to it. It's already bad enough that I'm aware my family is involved in it, but I am interested to know what will happen upon Matteo's return and how safe Matteo will be when we touch American soil. The boys will remain under our protection and will probably remain at home until this whole situation is resolved. Luckily, their schooling will continue.
I'm currently sitting on a Jet with my whole family on-route back to home with a million thoughts swirling my mind. Jess is also heading to the US with us. Rafael is serious about her, and I don't know if she received the Mafia talk yet, but I hope she doesn't take too badly to us once knowing the truth. Mom has been watching her like a hawk and probably did a whole background search on her that probably contained her blood type as well, but she seems like a genuine person with good intentions.
