Monday
Bear is in my class. He sits with me, despite what happened the day he came. The teacher, Hippo, is awfully nice to him, way nicer than she is with everyone else. Overly friendly, which is something she is not known for. In fact, Hippo is known to be one of the strict teachers at our school. I remember once she didn't let anyone use the restroom for the whole year because someone skipped using that excuse. People never really seemed to like her, though.
The issue is, Rhino and Crow are in my class, too.
It seems that Crow had been informed about what happened in the dorm. Each time he looks at Bear, he snickers a little and turns toward me for a moment, burning holes in my irises before facing the front of the room again.
On the other side of him is his girlfriend, Jelly. She has long half-and-half blue and black hair and is pretty nice, as compared to the other students. She doesn't deserve him. She deserves better than him. I know she knows what he does to me. Each time we lock eye contact, I can see the pity drowning in her eyes and screaming for help.
She's always paying attention in class, no matter what's happening in the background. Once, Rhino pushed down a girl and started kicking her and Jelly didn't flinch--not once. However, I did see her ask the girl if she was okay after class. I guess that's better than nothing.
Sometimes, I see Crow whispering in her ear and she starts giggling. I don't want to know what they talk about but I do wish they would shut up.
We're having free time now. The thing is, I don't really have anything to do. I have no friends, homework, books. Basically, free time is nothing but boring. Sitting beside Bear makes it a little better but just a little.
He leans towards me slightly. "Who's that?" he nudges his head towards Crow.
I don't know what Crow's real name is. I've never heard anyone call him by it. A few people call him Jayce but he always tells them that's not his name. Everyone else calls him Bullet. I don't know why, it seems it's just something they've gotten used to.
I scribble down the word 'Bullet' on a piece of paper and slide it towards him.
"What?" he stares at the paper, evidently confused. "No real name?"
I write, "I don't know his real name."
"Does everyone call him that?" I nod. "Even teachers?"
I write, "Teachers call him Connor. That's his last name."
"But you don't know his first," he states and hums. "Do you call him that, too?" I shake my head. Bullet didn't sit right with me--it sounded odd. "What do you call him?"
"Crow."
If he found this paper, I would be dead. Let's hope he doesn't!
"Hm, I like that one better," he says. I do, too.
A chair screeches in the front of the room. I look up and Crow is walking towards us with Rhino behind him.
I slide the paper into my pocket, reluctantly preparing myself for what he was going to say. Every time he opens his mouth, nothing good ever comes out. Not even to Jelly.
"Oh, has princess made a friend?" A sly grin stretches across his face. I hate it when they call me names but I can't say anything about it. They won't let me. In the corner of my eye, I see Bear fidgeting with his hands in his lap. His first impression on them wasn't good and that was going to judge how they treated him. It was the same for me. "What's your name, piggy?"
