As morning approached sunlight streamed my windows waking me from my sleep. I struggled greatly to open my eyes, when I did I rolled over, my alarm clock read 7:45.
"Are you serious?" I muttered to no one in particular. I roll over and try to fall asleep again but with no prevail, I lay there staring at the wall. I studied the dents and lines from the dried paint. I don't remember what color the room was before I got here, but I figured Aunt Peg and Uncle Steve didn't want me to see. I dragged my finger across the wall and chipped off a piece of the paint. I rolled over after some and glanced at the time, 8:00."
I swung my legs over my plain, gray bed before walking over to my dresser and grabbed a green shirt, black skinny jeans, and maroon vans. Aunt Peg insisted that I had to go to school, but in my mind school was a battle field, one that was not so easily won. I had gotten to avoid since they were on winter break when I moved here but January had to come way to soon of course. I had told Grace I little what it was like for me at my old school and she told me that this school would be different. I really hoped she was right.
If you haven't noticed, I hated school.
Between me being really awkward and annoying, prying people, I was doomed.
"Girls! I'm leaving in ten minutes! Madi you need to be there early!" Aunt Peg called.
Great. The moment I have been dreading has finally arrived.
I looked over my outfit and the amount of make-up that consisted of mascara, eyeliner, and chap stick, but mostly I had put on a lot of concealer to hide the bruises and scars from the accident. I had more injuries than skin. Even wearing a short-sleeved shirt was a risk.
"Madi?"
"Yes, sorry! Be down in a second!" I yelled back as I grabbed my NIKE backpack and headed straight into the warzone called school.

I knew this was a bad idea. The minute I stepped into the school parking lot I received curious looks and whispers. Not to mention all the ice outside and on the sidewalk. My first step was fine but the next one sent me on my face in front of a group of students standing outside the door. They immediately giggled and started whispering as I felt my cheeks heat up as I slowly stood up and continued into the school.
When I reached the office, the secretary greeted was there to greet me.
"Hello! You must be Madison Hunter the new student! Welcome to Chicago Central High School! I'm Mrs. Pond," I nodded a small smirk on my face knowing this would be a very long conversation. "Your Aunt called and explained your situation, my deepest of sympathy, if you ever want to talk to anyone I'm also the guidance counselor." My smirk was replaced with a small frown. "Mr. Watson is unavailable at the moment, we have quite a few troublemakers at this school..." she said while handing me a map of the school and started explaining the rules and procedures. The bell rang and in the midst of the secretary explaining the locker rules.
I mentally groaned knowing that walking into the class late was way worse than being on time.
The door from the entrance opened but I paid no attention to it until Mrs. Pond changed her tone from happy to exhausted saying, "Mr. Anderson, late as always. Which excuse are you going to use this time?" I turned to see who she was addressing to see a guy maybe 17 or 18 with shaggy black hair and electric blue eyes reply in low voice,
"Slept in." He walked behind me up to the desk. The secretary mumbled something while scribbling something on a piece of paper and holding out to him. He snatched from her hand and turned abruptly before shoving into me and knocking my books to the ground.
