Symphony, Miami FL"Did you ever hear back from the realtor ?" My mother questioned leaning in my office doorway .
"Yeah , I can close on the vineyard this week, why you still here ma?" As I turned to face her seeing the exhaustion all over her face.
" I just wanted to make sure you were alright sonny that's all I'm heading out I promise I'll see you next weekend for dinner " my mother answered as she adjusted the purse on her shoulder .
"Of course ma" giving her a hug I walked her out of my office to her car .
"Yo Steve " I called upon one of the waiters of my restaurant . " yeah boss" he answered wiping his hands on his apron .
"I'm heading out for the night , don't let them run you around"
"I'll try boss" as he dapped me up.
"Harmony" was my restaurant, I had always had a love for cooking . After spending most of my juvenile years in juive I turned to culinary school as a distraction from the outside world & just fell in love with it .
About 3 years ago I started expanding outside of my hometown of Brooklyn & it's been the best decision of my life coming down to Miami.
Especially love life wise the women were something different out here .
"Yo bro" my hommie Ant spoke as I answered the phone "wsp you down for ONYX tonight?" I asked turning into my driveway.
"Yeah im on what you on nigga " he spoke as he sparked up his blunt . Damn I could go for one right now .
"Aight bet" I could really use a night out ever since I been working on getting a wine vineyard this work is all I've been doing.
Later that night
"This shit jumpin" Ant spoke as we both took a sip of our drinks .
" who you telling, yo ain't that the girl that was at my restaurant last week?" I pointed over to the gorgeous women in the baby blue dress as she danced with her friend like no one was watching.
"yeah that's her for sure bro but didn't you say she was engaged" ant replied while raising an eyebrow at my continues curiosity about her. "yeah yeah but I got a feeling its more to the story" I answered while chugging back my drink.
My gut had never steered me wrong and I was hoping it wouldn't embarrass me in front of the women who's had my minds attention since I first met her. " nah bro I don't know maybe you should-" ignoring him completely I made my way over to the beautiful Xolana.
As I approached her I decided to rely on faith and whatever response I got from her tonight would show me whether I really have the chance to pursue her or not.
"you look gorgeous Xolana" I whispered into her ear from behind hoping not to startle her, "you know we've only had one interaction and I feel like I can decipher you're voice no matter where it comes from Symphony" she spoke turning to face me while smiling slightly. with her drink in her hand.
"wheres the fiance?" I questioned looking down at the ring on her finger. she rolled her eyes In response. " who cares fuck that nigga actually fuck all you niggas" she answered while starting to walk away. Following behind her I reached out for her arm only for her to swat my hand away, " Im fine okay don't have to follow me I'm just slightly tipsy" she announced turning to face me with her hand on her hip.
I couldn't help but smile , not at the fact that she was tipsy or upset but that we were even conversating. " the fuck is funny" she spoke " Lana I'm not cursing at you , I just wanted to say hello and make sure you're alright are you ?" I asked completely ignoring her attitude.
She sighed and played with the ring on her finger clearly avoiding eye contact, " you don't even know me " she answered still refusing to look at me. "and you don't know me either, but I'd like to " I answered while raising her head to look at me.
"I'm engaged, the conversation shouldn't have even gotten this far" she spoke turning her back to me "I understand and respect that, I'm just trying to be a friend to you I-"
"There you are Lana I was looking up and down this whole club for you- is that Mr,Man from the other night? OOOUU I knew I was right!" her friend expressed as she came out the bathroom clearly excited.
Rolling her eyes she grabbed onto her friends had trying to drag her with her . But she didn't budge .
"I'm sorry she's a little bossy when she's drunk I'm Ma'Lena; here let me give you her number I refuse to believe this is a coincidence " Lena explained while having her hand out for my phone .
Without hesitation I gave it to her . I'd never been excited to get a woman's number before but this was different. I was in the right place at the right time and I was going to take advantage of that.
"Cmon Lena I want to go homeeee" Xolana whined still pulling at Lena's hand while refusing to look at me .
" bye beautiful " I told Xolana as she and Lena left the club she waved as she disappeared into the crowded doorway.
Walking back over to my section I saw the smile on Ant's face I couldn't help but to shake my head .
" you just can't take no for an answer can you" ant stated as I dapped him up .
"I can , but not when it's fate . " I answered.
Later that evening"Aight man I'll hit you up tomorrow ; I really want to go to that Art show " I said to Ant as I dropped him off .
"Aight just call me be safe " nodding I pulled off down the block finally getting ready to be on my way home .
The houses were nice out here but I wouldn't be able to get my vineyard it's not enough land .
Looking to the side I saw a woman banging on a homes door with no shoes on . She looked disheveled .
"Excuse me , Ma'am do you need help?" I asked as I rolled down my window . She didn't reply she just kept banging on the door obviously in distress .
"Ma'am - Xolana?" I questioned as I got out the car getting a closer look at her . She had obviously been fighting , she didn't seem sad . Just angry.
She started walking fast away from me . As if I had angered her .
"I'm talking to you Xolana ." I stated making her stop in her tracks . Clearly offended by my tone .
"What." She answered now looking at me I could see it was worse than I thought . Her dress had been ripped and she had scratches on her face .
"Let me help you ma , please " I pleaded walking closer to her . She shook her head no .
"Please . I can't leave you like this Xolana" I pleaded once again not being able to turn away from her .
She pondered on it for a second but eventually sighed and shook her head yes. "Thank you" she replied.
"You don't ever have to thank me" I answered as i guided her towards my car.
