2 weeks laterWith Christmas just days away I was finally closing up on Xolanas gift. She hadn't asked for anything except 'pasta and lobster' giving me that 'she already has everything' speech. Yet I wasn't going for it .
"Boss we're all finished out here, I'm going to head out" my head chef spoke as he stood in my office doorway.
"Aight man be safe" I spoke.
"You too" he replied as he headed out.
Over the last 3 months to say business was booming that would be an understatement. The wine was doing numbers and I had been noticed were completely reserved out at both restaurants until march.
As I started typing up the letter for my staff about the new raises , I couldn't help but me grateful in this moment. Business was crazy good. My girl was healthy , and happy. My family was whatever but in all seriousness Xo had become my family. So I could look past the other shit with my moms and sister .
After talking to Syanni that night during Labor Day weekend she had agreed to go to rehab. She had been there since October and I really had faith in her. Yet my mom believed she would just end up on the same path.
As I scrolled through instagram I came across a picture Xo had just posted and couldn't help but smile.

Smirking at the comment I left I sat my phone down as I finished the report for the day.
Hearing my phone ring I internally rolled my eyes, damn I'm turning into Xo, "yo" I spoke not looking at who was calling.
"Damn a nigga can't even get a how you doing" A very disappointed Ant spoke.
"Shut yo girly ass up , where you at?" I answered slightly chuckling at his antics.
"I'm on my way to ONYX come slide nigga"
Looking at the time it was only 11 I definitely wouldn't mind going out tonight.
"Aight let me see what my lady say and I'll hit you back" I responded
"Now you so 'my lady this my lady that' you really a feign man, Lena gonna be there so she'll probably come" he teased as I could hear him chuckle.
"Lena gone be there ? How you know?" I questioned as I raised an eyebrow.
"That's my home girl now shut up nigga" he retorted sucking his teeth.
"Mmcht shut up you wish this was you" I spoke as I hung up calling Xo.As it got to the last ring I looked at my phone to make sure I was calling the right person.
Voicemail ? Aight let's try that again.
Listening to the phone go to voicemail for the second time I texted her, 'you good ma?' .
Read.
Raising an eyebrow I hesitated to text again. Did I do something wrong?
Grabbing my things I headed out as I decided to go show up at her place. I had to make sure she was good before I did anything.
At Xolanas
As I opened the door I was met with a very exhausted xolana spread across her sectional with her neck in the worst position ever.
Walking over to her I shook my head taking off my shoes and jacket. As I slid in behind her she started to stir in her sleep.
"Hi" she yawned groggily.
Kissing her forehead I adjusted her body to lay across my chest. "Wsp ma, you can go back to sleep I was just checking on you" I spoke whispering remembering that when she first wakes up she hates noise.
She get overstimulated faster than a Mf.
"No I need to get up I have this piece for work and-"
"Whatever can wait your exhausted ma I can't let you work in these conditions" I spoke kissing her forehead as I soothed her rubbing her back.
"Sy work is important" she spoke from under me.
"I know baby but so are you" I responded kissing her cheeks. Fluffy like a squirrel I could never help myself."I can't let anything happen to you Xo, your health is important to me" I assured.
With no fight she sighed bringing the cover up back on the both of us. "I love you Sy" she announced as she yawned. As I tensed up at three words I knew I felt but I couldn't bring myself to say it back "thanks ma".
Why'd she have to say it now? Now everything had to go by the book or I'm the bad guy?
No hard feelings right? She know what it is.
Feeling as her breathing got heavier I realized she had went back to sleep not even waiting my response . Maybe she didn't mean to say it?
Regardless her true feeling were on the floor now and it was time to tell mine yet I wasn't ready.
