- Y/n? Is something wrong? You're very quiet.

I startle slightly and see Nobara with a rueful smile. I'm having breakfast with the first and second years. Interestingly, I notice the boys looking in my direction with furrowed brows.

"Takana?" Toge asks. I laugh awkwardly to not worry them.

"Guys, yeah, I'm fine—though it's a lie—I'm sorry."

Satoru is away on another one of those overseas business trips, it's been seven days since he left and since I talked to Yaga, and I haven't slept well at all. Not at all.

I've had to continue with my usual routine: exercises with the students, practicing my technique alone, cooking for the kids, cleaning the school areas, combat sessions in the afternoons...

It's okay, I'm not complaining about the routine, and I enjoy spending time with the kids. I had already adopted them as mine before coming here -I know I'm delulu-but now I have the opportunity to treat them as such. All good.

But those dark nightmares that haunt me at night... that's not okay.

"She's lying," Megumi warns with a raised eyebrow, then stirs the ramen with his chopsticks to take a bit and slurp, "It's obvious she's not okay."

"Megumi!" My eyes widen in surprise. Yuji, who is next to the dark-haired guy, smiles embarrassedly and scratches the back of his neck.

"Fushiguro, don't say it like that," Nobara scowls at him. Maki squints.

"Megumi is right," the green-haired girl says.

"Tell us," Panda encourages, "Does it have to do with Satoru?"

I shake my head.

"No, it has nothing to do with Satoru," I rush to answer and sigh, "I'm just having trouble sleeping."

I respond ambiguously.

"Tuna mayo" Toge tells me.

"Toge is right," Panda says, "You should make yourself some tea."

I agree with their words.

"It's a good idea," I respond after slurping some ramen, "Do you guys want some after dinner?"

I change the subject, and Maki, Nobara, Toge, and Megumi accept, quickly shifting the conversation in another direction. I try to participate more in what they're saying, and after dinner, having tea and talking with the kids, it's 10 o'clock when I go to bed.

It's pouring rain, the sound of the drops hitting the ground is deafening. I open the sliding door, the washi paper is torn in most of the rooms.

I'm in an open hallway. The rain sounds crisp now that I'm outside, and a cold breeze freezes me to the bone.

My heart beats hard, something is wrong. The night is dark, and I can barely see with the faint moonlight.
