A Proposition

One bright morning, Maria sat up in her bed, her sapphire eyes opening to be greeted by the sunlight shining through the window. Adjusting to the morning light, she felt like today was going to be the usual, attending class and hanging out with her friends. Getting up and preparing for the day, she noticed something was poking out of a drawer. Consumed with curiosity, she tentatively opened the drawer and picked up the source of the mysterious item. A folded photograph was what she had found.

Unfolding it, her blue eyes widened at the sight of three brothers. She recognised Chazz standing in the middle of them, clad in the Obelisk Blue uniform but her gaze focused on the other two males. One of them had dark slick hair with darker grey eyes, wearing a black and dark gray business suit and tie. A small beard adorned his chin, showing that he was the eldest. The other male had short gray hair and icy gray eyes, wearing a business suit that was a navy steel blue, complete with a brown tie. He was definitely the second born.

'So these two gentlemen are Chazz's older brothers. What Jaden told me is all true.' A turmoil of emotions washed over her, anger burning in eyes as she cursed the very brothers who treated Chazz like a failure. 'The nerve of them! They should learn to fix their family drama!' Folding the photograph and putting it back in the drawer, she slammed it shut in a small spell of anger.

"Maria?"

Maria jumped as she heard Blair's voice calling her name from the bedroom. The slam must've woke her roommate in the process.

"Just fixing a jammed drawer." The caramel haired girl replied. "Sorry, if I woke you up."

"I was already awake but thanks for fixing it." Blair beamed, stepping out after getting dressed. "Well better get some breakfast then off to class. I hear Chancellor Sheppard's gonna announce some big news."

Maria's eyes widened. "What kind of news?"

Blair shrugged. "Don't know yet. We'll have to wait and see for ourselves."

Nodding in agreement, both girls headed out of their dorm room on their way to the cafeteria to meet with Jaden and the others. Whatever announcement, the academy's headmaster has to make, it was bound to be rather..exciting.

Inside the classroom, a cacophony of students chattering among themselves, gossiping about the upcoming news, they were going to hear. Although Jaden was the most excited out of them, feeling like a kid waking up on Christmas morning. Chazz saw this and rolled his eyes at the brown haired Slifer slacker upon taking his seat, though he would be more tolerant towards Maria who would be sitting down next to him. Neither teens said a word as they settled in, awaiting Dr. Crowler, Vice-Chancellor Bonaparte and Chancellor Sheppard's arrival.

"At ease, Sarge! We don't even know what this news is." Hassleberry protested.

"Whatever this news is, I bet it'll be plum exciting." Remarked Jesse.

"There's really no stopping Jaden when he gets pumped up." Syrus added.

The students continued to clamour until they heard the sound of the door sliding open and three figures entering to face the entire class.

"Settle down, students. If I can have everyone's attention please."

The chattering ceased and the entire class fell silent upon hearing the headmaster's voice. Chancellor Sheppard cleared his throat before beginning to make his announcement.

"Now then, I have some big news for you all here today. It's my pleasure to announce that we will be holding a tag team duel tournament."

A collective gasp sounded among the students before they fell silent again.
