6 AM and Shoto's alarm began blaring. Resisting the strong urge to roll over, and freeze the clock to his nightstand, Shoto threw off his blanket and got out of bed. He had never been one to sleep in, but that didn't mean he loved waking up early.
He began his morning routine and pulled off his pajamas and put on a fresh uniform before stepping into the bathroom. He brushed his teeth and ran a hand through his two-toned hair to smooth it out. Then, Shoto picked up a towel, and gently washed his face.
Ever so slowly, he scrubbed around his nose and cheeks, being careful not to aggravate the scar tissue around his eye. It had been several years, and he still tried to avoid touching his scar as much as possible.
Once he finished in the bathroom, he grabbed his bag and walked out the door. "Hey, Todoroki!"
He had just stepped into the common room of their dorm and ran into Midoriya, Ida, Uraraka, and Tsu. "Good morning."
"Good morning to you as well Todoroki!" Ida greeted. "Would you like to walk to class with us?"
"Sure." He fell in behind them as they made their way out the door.
"How do you guys think you did on the test yesterday?" Tsu asked.
Uraraka grimaced, "I think I did all right, but the section on ocean rescues stumped me. There are so many different types of boating disasters that I get confused about which one's which."
"Yeah, those can be tricky. Luckily, I covered a lot of those during my internship." Tsu nodded. "My issue was with the fire rescue portion."
"I had to study really hard for that part," Midoriya added. "Fires are so dangerous and can change so quickly. There's a lot of protocol that goes into dealing with them."
"Ida, what did you get for the question on radiation poisoning?" Shoto asked.
"I selected B. 'Radiation poisoning can take up to 5 to 6 hours to set int.'" He replied and they all groaned. "What? Which one did you guys pick?"
"C." They all chorused.
They finally reached the door of their classroom and walked in. Chatter filled the room until Mr. Aizawa entered. "I am passing back your tests now. You could all strive to do better." They all glared at Ida who clearly had a large 100% circled at the top of his page. "Well, most of you anyway. Today, we are going to be doing something a bit different."
"Are we going to be rescuing hot girls?" Mineta asked eagerly. A second later, his mouth was taped shut by Sero and Mina shot acid at him from across the room.
Aizawa didn't even care as he continued explaining. "One of the most important parts of being a hero is not just rescuing people, but also emphasizing with them. You need to be able to show compassion, even while in dangerous situations so you do not scare the victims further. To help you train in this area, today we are going to be taking a field trip to a local grade school. There, you can meet some of the kids, and try to understand them better."
"Oh, that sounds fun!" Toru squealed.
"I love kids!" Kaminari agreed.
Koda nodded, "They're just so precious."
Shoto and Bakugo made brief eye contact and shuttered. Not again...
