"Hey Sam," I whisper out, glaring over at the large wolf. The large beast just looks at me with judgmental eyes. "These whole one-sided conversations are getting really lame." I've only talked to him a few times while he's human. He's able to transform into any man in front of me but he doesn't really like to, his trust issues are horrible. And then before he became a wolf he never talked to me. Not that we had a reason to. I turn back to face the ocean no longer caring about the large wolf watching me. I can hear his steady heartbeat and the rustle of the rocks below him but I focus my attention on the water.

"You saw them?" I try around surprised. "What the-" but I cut myself off when I see a tall dark man standing there. "Are shirts not your thing?" I ask trying to cover my shock.  "Be glad I'm wearing pants okay," he spits out as he comes over and sits beside me. "I don't bite-" I joke when he leaves a whole two feet between us. "Well actually..." my voice trails off and I laugh at my own joke. "You say them, the bloodsuckers?" He asks again ignoring my witty comment. "Why?"

He sighs before beginning. "Just curious, I mean I want them gone just as much as you-" but I cut him off. "No, you don't." There's an awkward silence after and I can hear his breathing shift as he starts to relax. "Yeah, I was getting dinner earlier-" and I correct myself when I see his judgment, "Deer. I was getting deer about a couple miles west of here. I saw one of the chicks." I think back to the flirty smile the blonde sent me. I may not remember her very well from before, but I do know I've revived that smile dozens of times in my past.

"The elders are having a meeting tomorrow on what to do about them. A lot of people are angry that Robbie would agree to let them stay," Sam explains and I look at him dumbfounded. "Really? People are mad?" I make sure sarcasm drops in each word. "For looking so young you really are a bitch." I roll my eyes that that. "Well technically I'm over 60, so respect your elders you brat." I'm not sure why it's easy to be so calm with him. Vampires and werewolves don't get along but I guess it's nice. He kinda gets being different sorta.

"Suns coming up soon, and I have to make food for my kids. Second day of school. Don't you need to go to school?" I ask but then remember. "Sorry, you dropped out. My bad well yeah I'm going to go," I leave awkwardly no longer wanting to talk to the wolf man. I do not want myself getting friendly with my species sworn enemy. I make sure to get home at a leisurely pace since I don't feel like doing anything else currently.

"Billy, get your ass up!" I knock on his bedroom door before going to the two teens. "Lauren! Up! Jacob! Time for school!" I walk back down the hall and towards the oatmeal cooking on the stove. The dark mush looks unappealing to be but I bowl up three servings of it and place them on the table. "You guys better be up and out here to eat!" I yell again and now I hear the rustling of covers and the grumbles of sleepy teens as I go to the fridge to get the fruit out. I place strawberry and blueberry don't the table with brown sugar and some milk.

"Kati? I have skirt making after school so don't wait on me for dinner," Lauren explains to herself knowing that I'll hear her. I roll my eyes knowing this is the start of a long period when she won't ever be at home. Jacob emerges first with somewhat clean clothes and sits to eat. "Morning sleepy head, excited?" I ask and his flare is all the answer I need. "You were yesterday," I remind him and he takes a large night of his oatmeal. "Yeah, that was the idiot who didn't realize how much homework you get in high school."
