Y/N's POV

We arrived at our parents place, Hoseok pressed the doorbell and looked over me as he smiled.

"I'm kinda nervous." I said softly as I tapped my foot on the ground continuously and bit my lip.

"Why?" He asked.

"You'll see." I replied.

--

We headed inside after a maid answeres the door, I looked around and saw everything so clean, the house looking so rich. Everything looks polish and...

White.

It's been so long since the last time I visited this place, when grandma was still alive, this place was so cozy and vintage. I didn't know why they decided to change it.

I sat down on the sofa beside my brother and faced the long staircase that was far away from us.

I heard footsteps from it as someone headed down and it was our parents. Mr. Jung Juwong and Mrs. Jung Haneul, the couple who started to have grey hair but still age like fine wine.

I looked down on my shoes as soon as I got an eye to eye with my parents, I started to get hot and I scratched my hand anxiously.

Hoseok held my hand before standing up and leaving the sofa to greet them, signaling me to calm down and to follow him.

I left my bag on the sofa and followed him, trying to hide behind him.

"Dad, mom, we brought fruits on the way." He handed out the fruit basket and bowed down slightly while I smile, still hiding from behind him.

Mother smiled and they approachsd us. The maid took the basket and left the scene.

--

At the long dinner table, we sat down as the maids were serving the dishes to the table, looking down as I felt father looking at me with disappointment. Hoseok looked over to me and looked back at our parents.

"Thank you for the meal, mom, dad. Sorry, we didn't give you a heads up that we're coming. But we just wanted to surprise you, that's all." He said as he shrugged and chuckled to break the ice.

"Did you continue law, Y/N?" Father asked me with a stern voice.

I got startled with my father's voice and I shook my head.

"No?" He asked while I still look down on my empty porcelain plate. "You still continued with your damn fine arts?" He slammed the table and it startled me again. "And it's not fine with me!"

I suddenly heard Hoseok snickered beside me and I looked over him as I gave him a wide-eyed look while tilting down to my plate.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I think it's because you pulled a dad joke just now." He laughed. "You said fine arts but you're not fine with it, lol." He continued as he pointed at father and laughed. Mother smiled as she looked at him while I grimaced and then closed my eyes out of a second-hand embarrassment.

He slowly stopped laughing as he noticed everyone silent. He noticed the maids as some were covering their mouths. He looked at each of us and pursed his lips.

"Oh, yeah, you're right. It's not funny, my bad." He said as he started to pick food from the table to stay away from trouble.

Father sighed and looked back at me with another disappointed look. I smiled in a thin line and started to pick food as well.

Mother held father's hand, telling him to stop and calm him down.

"You kids better take serious of this life, don't joke around." Father said in a serious voice as he sliced the steak on his plate.

--

After dinner, we decided to go out with mother and we headed to the nearest store while father fell asleep first. We bought ourselves some ice cream and went to a park.

Me and mother sat on the bench while Hoseok was swinging on a swing near us as he was busy with his phone.

"Honey, don't mind your father." Mother mentioned as she held my hand and turned to her. "You know he can be aggressive sometimes but he just wants the best for you." She continued as she caressed my back.

"Mother, don't worry, I'm actually doing fine, don't worry." I shook my head and smiled.

Mom, I'm actually stuck.

"Is that so?" She raised her brows and nodded. "Good to hear that, I haven't heard you in a while. You haven't invite me to your art exhibits, when's your last time?" She asked as she ate her vanilla ice cream.

"Umm, I haven't finished my artworks so..." I replied.

"Oh, alright. Please do invite us soon, me and your dad will be looking forward to it." She smiled and scrunched her nose.

"Meow~"

I suddenly heard a familar sound in my head as I saw my mother scrunched her nose. I shook my head to snap out of myself.

"Yah, Y/N, something wrong?" Hoseok laid his hand on my shoulder as he sat down on the armrest of the bench. I looked over to him and shook my head.

He handed his phone out and started to take a picture with us.

"Smile!"

I ignored him, still looking at my direction while eating my chocolate ice cream with a blank face.

"Yah, Y/N!"

I rolled my eyes and turned around as I forced to smile a bit, mocking him.

He took a picture and mother posed for the picture as well, raising a peace sign.

"Y/N, smile more!" He tickled me on my side and it made me laugh, he took another picture. "Arasseo, finish." He said as he stood up while I glared at him. [Arasseo = 알았어 : Okay /

He laughed and showed me the picture with me laughing while my teeth was smothered with chocolate ice cream. I immediately tried to grab his phone but he raised it up high to the point that I couldn't reach it.

Mother laughs as she watches us fooling around.

"YAH, HOSEOK-AH!"

•••

The day after last night arrived. Me and Hoseok were in the car, waving goodbye to our parents.

"Take care, children!" Mom shouted from a distance.

"Love you guys!" Hoseok shouted back while I only smiled at them.

After we left the place, I rolled up my window and decided to take a nap.

--

As I laid down on my bed, looking at the glow in the dark stars on my ceiling, I put my hands on my forehead, thinking about the exhibition I'm planning on for my parents.

This frustrates me so much. I thought to myself as I opened my phone and it's 2:49 am.

I don't want to disappoint them for the second time. I know I'm not in the right state but I have to do it. I need to do it.
But how?

I received a notification and checked it.

"Meow. Can I now bother you? It's been 2 days..." I sighed as I read a text from a really known person.

This guy doesn't really leave me alone even in my serious moments in life, huh?
