From the moment the two more agile Hunters had touched down in the "weird robot jungle" as the London had called it, she had been in a "mood".

Now, normally, a few hours at her private dojo would fix that (cleverly disguised as one of her usual shopping trips, to keep up appearances), but she couldn't exactly do that now for obvious reasons.

These "mad-lib" guys would have to do instead.

The girl dashed ahead, practically oblivious to the fact that she even had a partner, let alone that he was lagging behind.

"P...Princess!" Axl huffed by the time they got to a section of oddly square platforms leading to the silver door. Aside from warning her of a few spike traps, which she barely reacted to, he might as well have not have existed.

"London! Wait up!"

He finally got her attention...just as they stepped through the doorway to their target.

"What?!" She snapped, glaring daggers at him.

"Don't give me that look. I thought we were supposed to be, y'know, a team. Whatever happened to that.

London's expression softened significantly. "Oh... I..."

Before the golden Hunter could say anything more, the beating of wings interrupted their would-be conversation.

"Interlopers..." a green dragonfly-like reploid appeared from the canopy above, his red goggled, rather feminine-looking eyes wide with paranoia. "Maverick Hunters! Unknown ones at that!"

"So you know who we are," Axl stated, now focused on his adversary. "Then you know it'd be in your best interest to surrender..."

The commander's voice only ramped up in panic. "S-Surrender? So you can betray and destroy me? Never! I'll destroy you first!"

With a shaking of his head and a sigh, he readied his weapons, London following suit...only for the girl to sprint ahead and start fighting without him.

"I'll... I'll handle this, Axl. Sorry for ignoring you."

Off she went to "handle it". It seemed to be working out pretty well at first, with the golden reploid dodging the Maverick's diving attacks with relative ease.

Huh, maybe she's actually got this after all, Axl thought as he idly twirled his guns around and watched.

Unfortunately, the tides quickly turned once the dragonfly sent out similarly-themed sentry drones, and LOTS of them. Soon, they were practically overrun.

"What I wouldn't give for a great, big fly swatter right now..." London mumbled under her breath as she alternated normal shots with her Fire Bow to no avail.

Axl was forced to jump in, shooting to no avail at the Maverick hiding behind his swarm until he got an idea.

As he focused, the gem on his forehead glowed and a white light overcame him...

...causing the active fighters to pause mid-battle to glance back at the strange figure that had now seemingly replaced Axl: a red, scar-covered Grim Reaper-esque figure complete with his own scythe.

As if in introduction, he twirled said scythe rapidly, blowing away and destroying all the drones in one fell swoop. Then, jumping over London entirely (who wound up ducking instinctively), he threw the weapon like a boomerang, it spinning around and cutting off both sets of wings from the enemy reploid before returning to him.

Enraged, the now-wingless Yammark charged at him wildly, only to find his target gone, warped away before being cut almost clean in half.

"What...?" With that last expression, the Maverick exploded, leaving behind a green orb, which the figure looked at before looking back at London and teleporting right in front of her, saying one word that nearly sent her up into the trees herself...

"Boo."

The figure laughed uproariously for a minute before taking the orb and warping them both away.
