"Blah blah blah blah blah blah, I don't have to say nothing, de nada," (Rydel Lynch, Love Me Like That).
Rydel's POV
I got home and went straight up to my room. I was tired and ready to got to bed. I walked passed Riker's room but no matter how hard I tried to walk by quietly, so he wouldn't notice, he did anyway.
"Rydel!" he shouted, running out of his room after me.
I took a deep breath and reluctantly turned to look at him. "What's up?" I said casually.
"Where were you?" he asked sheepishly, running his fingers through his hair.
"Out," I replied flatly.
He chuckled and anxiously looked about. "Of course, but, well," he said. "How is she?"
"How's who?" I asked playing innocent.
"You know, Scarlet," he said. I rolled my eyes. Maybe I shouldn't have been this rude but I felt the need to stay quiet about anything Scarlet.
I wasn't sure what to answer, deny I even saw her or simply say fine and move on.
"I really don't mean to push you, Del. Sorry for asking. I know I should just probably ask her myself but she hasn't picked up any of my calls and I can't go knocking at her front door, that would be forcing her and I don't want to do that." His voice faded as he spoke to a whisper and I noticed tears were building up in his eyes.
My older brother was miserable, just as Scarlet had been. But I couldn't interfere. I guess it made sense they would both be this upset. They've been together since we were in middle school, all throughout high school, then, had to split up, for four years, without another word. This was their chance to get back together, and Riker blew it.
"I'm really sorry," I apologized feeling my own eyes tear up. I didn't wait for him to say anything before I wrapped my arms around his waist and hugged my older brother.
"I'm such an idiot," he whimpered as he hugged me back. "A total moron, how could I have let her walk away? Am I a bad person?" he asked.
"No," I said immediately. "No, Riker. You just made a mistake," I said.
"Yeah, one I'll never be able to take back," he cried squeezing me tighter
"You don't know that," I reassured. "Just give it time. You always said it was destiny, maybe you need to let the universe do it's thing."
I pulled away and wiped the tears off his face. "She's coming tomorrow, but I don't think you should try to fix things. It may make things worse," I advised.
He nodded, suddenly interested in his shoes. I gave him one last, weak smile and went off to bed.
It was 8:30 and I was ready for everyone to arrive. The doorbell rang and I raced to answer it.
"They're here!" I sang as I ran towards the door and pushed all my siblings up the stairs, only for them to step back down.
I opened the door and saw Sav, Vanni, Alexa and Courtney. "Hey!" I shouted as they all met me with a hug. We screamed in the group hug as we were over excited because we hadn't seen each other in a while.
Sav was Ryland's girlfriend so she went straight to seeing my youngest brother. Courtney and Vanni went to take the pastries they had brought over to the kitchen and Alexa closed the door behind her and waited for me to guide her.
"Hey! I thought you said you couldn't make it," I said.
"Yeah, I originally had a class tonight but I got someone to substitute so I could come hang out with you," she said with her usual polite smile.
