"I howled at the moon with friends and then the sun came crashing in. But all the possibilities, no limits just epiphanies," (American Authors, Best Day Of My Life).

Riker's POV - Day III

I had to share a room with Ross and Scarlet. It really wasn't a big deal, we'd shared a room before when we were best friends but it felt strange this time. Maybe it was because of what had happened in the car the first day of vacation, how Ross got all jittery around Scarlet. Maybe it had to do with us both being older, I mean our minds had matured too.

The rooms each had around three feet in between the three twin beds. The rooms themselves were somewhat big, I guess they were just a bit crowded. I picked the bed to the left and Ross picked the one on the right leaving Scarlet in the middle.

She left her things on the bed and went out to hang out with Rydel.

"Well this is strange," Ross admitted. I honestly wanted to agree with him but I knew if I did it would have things awkward in the future.

"Not that much, we've gone camping and slept in the same tent as Scarlet before. It's fine, it's not weird if you don't make it weird," I advised trying to sound casual.

Ross nodded and walked out of the room. I followed and saw Rydel and Scarlet were having an intense game of slide. They both sat crisscross on the floor. Their laughs filled the room and made things seem happier.

Scarlet looked up the slightest bit at me and lost the game. They both screamed and Rydel pushed Scarlet playfully backwards.

"Ahh you messed up the game Scarlet!" she blamed. Scarlet laughed and laid back on the floor. Everything Scarlet did made me smile and the fact that I distracted her made me want to squirm like a little girl. I looked over at Ross and saw he too thought it was adorable.

Did Ross have feelings for Scarlet? I wondered. What? Of course not. I was just being paranoid. Besides Ross knew how much Scarlet meant to me.

"You guys up for bonfire on the beach?" I asked.

Everyone looked at me and yelled, "Yes!" simultaneously. We all went outside and Rocky, Ellington, and I set up the fire. Ross was hanging out with Rydel and Scarlet. They were running around the beach throwing sand at each other.

When we finished setting up we all got together around the small fire. It wasn't much of a bonfire more like a campfire. Rydel and Rocky beat me and sat on either side of Scarlet. Next to Rydel sat Ellington then myself. Inbetween Rocky and I sat Ross.

Ross ran inside and came out with a couple instruments. "How about some singing?" he suggested. He looked over to Scarlet, "How about it Scar? I haven't heard you sing in a long time!"

Scarlet looked around like she wanted to say no. "I don't know, I haven't sung since then. I'm a little rusty," she said.

"Come on Scar," I insisted. She looked at me, it was for the slightest second but I almost lost myself in her eyes. Her eyes were a deep brown but the reflection of the fire danced in them.

She smiled at me, "Okay, maybe I'll sing a little." Ross gave Rocky a guitar and Ellington a little drum. Ross had a guitar himself.

"Alright Scar, what song would you like to sing?" Ross asked her. She looked around at us in thought.

"Well I would like to sing Counting Stars. Riker will you help me?" She looked at me and smiled. I wasn't sure if she was flirting with me but I liked it.

"Sure," I agreed. Ross and Rocky began to play the song and Scarlet sang along. She would sing the chorus and I sang the verses. Unfortunately I couldn't reach the high notes of the pre chorus so Ross sang those for me. Rydel and Rocky occasionally sang with Scarlet.
