Of course, Felicity wouldn't be stupid to kill the king right away.

Things had to be carefully planned and executed. There's no need to rush such an important decision.

She would bide her time and strike when the moment was perfect.

So not tonight, not tomorrow, but soon, very soon.

And when she did, it would be a move that would change the course of history forever.

—The steady breathing of the king was the only sound in the dark, lit room.

Owing to the day's burdensome tasks, the king fell into a deep slumber much to Felicity's surprise.

Normally, at this time, the king would still be in his study, which was why she chose this particular moment to enter his chambers.

Her plan is very simple; she only wanted to annoy him and remind him of her presence in a pesky way.

But as she stood there, watching him sleep peacefully, a new idea began to form in her mind.

A very evil smile crept across her face.

She stood next to the king's bed, her cold eyes travelling over his peaceful slumbering face.

From his eyebrows to his chin, every feature seemed relaxed and vulnerable.

The temptation to do something truly wicked grew stronger within her.

Her hands slowly made their way toward the king's face, seemingly wanting to pluck out his eyes.

The thought of the chaos and fear it would cause excited her.

But when her eyes landed down to his slender neck, his Adam's apple, which was bobbing slightly with each breath, her movements halted and instead changed the direction of her hands.

She traced her fingers lightly over his neck, feeling the pulse beneath his skin.

A cold smile played on her lips. Then, her eyes started to darken crazily.

An absurd thought crossed her mind.

She wanted to see him squirm and beg for mercy as she slowly tightened her grip around his throat. The power she held over him in that moment was sure to be intoxicating.

Hah.

She wanted to see him looking at her.

She wanted to see the fear in his eyes, to feel the control she had over him—to see what he would look like when he's completely at her mercy.

The mere thought of it sent a shiver of excitement down her spine.

Before her nails could dig into his skin, she took a deep breath and restrained the crazy look in her eyes.

Closing her eyes, she feigned an expression of innocence and a gaze filled with passionate longing. She knew that any moment from now, the king would soon open his eyes.

Sure enough, the king did not disappoint, as he slowly opened his eyes and gazed at her with his usual cold and indifferent eyes, not at all surprised by the queen's sudden visit.

Felicity's intense, hot gaze stared deeply at him, but he remained unmoved, his stoic expression never faltering.

"What brings you here, my queen?" he finally spoke, his voice cold and authoritative.

Felicity's eyes wandered over his handsome features before stopping at his slightly parted lips.

As though thinking about something, her eyes narrowed slightly before she finally spoke.
