Felicity Kazdea is the princess of the Madeira Kingdom.

She was crowned queen in the neighbouring kingdom of Nevis and married their king as part of a political alliance.

Felicity hated being controlled the most; she has the type of personality who wouldn't let herself be confined by anyone's expectations or rules.

Thus, when the decree arrived that she was to marry a king of a neighbouring kingdom who she hadn't even met, Felicity's rebellious nature was immediately ignited.

She then came to plan her escape the same night.

She didn't care about anyone else.

So what if those people get killed if she runs away?

She had always been selfish and knew that those people were only using her.

It matters not to her if they suffer consequences.

There's no such thing as a free meal ticket in life, after all.

Won't it be fun to watch them suffer a little bit?

After enduring so much in the dark and gloomy dungeon, they deserved a taste of their own medicine.

Felicity will not marry herself to a life of servitude, and she will escape, no matter the cost.

However, who would've thought that she would soon turn back her own words?

As fate would have it, Felicity found herself in the arms of a man who saved her from being attacked by the wild beasts in the forest border of her own kingdom.

And this man turned out to be the king of the neighbouring kingdom, whom everyone depicted as coldblooded and ruthless.

Most importantly, this man is the one she was supposed to marry!

Felicity felt conflicted in her heart.

She vowed to escape from servitude but now found herself drawn to the very person she had sworn to avoid.

But for her, it was love at first sight.

She then decided to follow her heart and give their political marriage a chance, which became the beginning of her fantasy, which would soon become her doom.

In the first two years of their marriage, the king was neither warm nor cold-blooded, but rather indifferent towards Felicity.

She saw how his actions were driven by duty rather than genuine affection, as he would spend longer time in his study room or when he attended to royal matters but would barely spare her a glance.

Felicity realized that her dream of a fairytale romance was slowly fading away, but her stubbornness and determination led her to believe that she could eventually win his heart.

Unfortunately, as time passed, she realized that the king's heart was truly impenetrable.

Or perhaps it was just that she was not the one who could thaw it.

Thus, when news broke that the king had taken in concubines from the slums and even slept with them, Queen Felicity felt slapped in the face by reality.

He hadn't made it clear, but his actions spoke volumes.

He simply did not love her in the way she had hoped.

Yet, although Felicity was momentarily heartbroken by the news, she refused to let it consume her.

From the moment he sent a decree to marry her, he was already hers.
