Chapter 2: The wet ground

Third-Person Point of View

Is this happening? Did heaven answer his prayer? He thought to himself.

"This is not a dream, right?" he asked, trying to check the reality. His heart throbs so fast. "Love!" He said while pulling someone into his arms. He felt hurt as the body dropped to his. But he didn't complain at all. Albeit, he frenzied the feeling. "Is it you?"

The embrace is warm. Nothing makes him happier than the borrowed time he has with her, and she is in the flesh.

He doesn't know how on earth it happened or whether it's possible or not. All of him screams in delight, even if the back of his mind tells him that he's delusional. But none of it matters. The important thing is that the person is enveloped in his embrace.

A soft voice was heard against his broad chest. His heart swelled as the soft voice echoed in his heart. "I miss you so damn much."

It felt like heaven on earth because his angel was with him. "I love you," he lovingly said, then kissed the side of her head. He smelled the scent of her hair. It smells like roses.

Do angels smell like roses? Am I in a different dimension where Eliana is alive? If yes, don't bring me back to where I used to be. If it's a dream, then don't wake me up. He silently pleads in his heart.

A soft tap was felt against his arm. Once again, he frenzied the feeling. But the tap grew stronger until an audible call in his name was heard. "Gabriel Nico..." He bit his lower lip, suppressing his sobs. Her voice is like music to his ears. Though it sounded a little different, it still sounded so alive.

"Nasasakal ako. Pwedeng luwagan mo ang pagkaka-akap?" He heard her complain. Then suddenly, reality hit him. He pushed the woman away. He figured that the woman he was hugging a while ago was not her. It was a different woman! In front of her is a lady with long black hair. She's pale and has a small face.

"Fuck!" he cursed. "Who the hell are you?!" He scowled at the woman on the ground who was trying to stand up from the fall. He mistook a stranger for her, thinking that it was her. Worse, he was embarrassed for the things he had done to her earlier.

"Ang lakas mong manulak." she complained. But her voice is soft and sweet. He didn't say a word but only looked at her, still in a daze about what had happened. "Di ka man lang ba hihingi ng tawad?" She said after a minute or so. "Why would I?" he scoffed. To him, she should be apologizing for exploiting his vulnerable state.

"Ang sungit. Sayang pogi ka sana, eh." His left brow lifted at the comment. "Pero sige. Pinapatawad na kita." For him, the woman talks nonsense, making him irritated. He doesn't want to associate with her any longer. So without saying anything, he turned his back on her and grabbed her canned beer. He was about to drink from it again, but the woman snatched the can away. What is more astonishing is that she drank from it. But since it was her first time, it tasted bitter, so she made a face. "Ang pait!" she squealed.

"What the hell, woman?!" he annoyingly breathed. But it was futile. The woman only manages to stare at him with a mocking smile. "Masama sa kalusugan ang alkohol." she said while staring at the canned beer. "Give it back," he said, holding his temper. But she didn't. Instead, she continued lecturing her.
