Chapter 5: The Sunlight

His side

"Magandang gabi, Boss Nico!" The bouncer greeted me as soon as I entered A rosé. I gave him a quick look and then nodded.

As I marched inside the bar, my nostrils felt itchy as I inhaled the reeking smell of alcohol and smoke. I eyed the patrons and guests busy fooling around by dancing and drinking. They look like they are having fun.

A few people and employees acknowledged me when I walked past them. I simply nodded to every greeting.

"Hi, Nico." Somebody spoke beside me, hooking her hand to mine. A tall, maybe almost six feet, half-Australian goddess dressed in a concise, body wrap satin dress that her ass nearly spilled out of and her long legs grew out of was beside me. This sexy chick is Sarah Connor, notoriously dubbed the slut. Rumors have it that she never spared anyone—married or not, old or young—in her bed.

"Do you want me?" Sarah purred in my ear.

"Do you want me?" I countered playfully, stressing each word. She licked her lips, delighted at my response.

"More than anything." She tiptoed to level our lips and closed our distance for a kiss. But, before she could touch her lips to mine, I pushed her away, making her gasp.

"Fuck off," I coldly said, then left.

"What a jerk!" I heard her complain from behind. Sorry, Sarah, but I'm in a foul mood.

That woman made me feel this way. It's eccentric, but I was bothered by her. The annoying woman who has the same name as my late girlfriend.

"You're here again, asshole?" Ban said, almost mockingly, as I sat in the high chair at the counter. "It's my bar." I countered. The bar is indeed mine. I built it and named it A Rose in memory of my Eliana. She was a tourism student back then, and this was her dream. I'm fulfilling it in her stead.

"Wala ka namang dalang kutsilyo o baril?" he joked while shaking a shaker. My brows narrowed. "Just making sure, baka tuluyan mo na ako, eh." Ban laughed at his own half-meant joke. He filled the mixing glass with Lumiere. "Do you want me to kill you now?" I countered jokingly.

"Gago! Gusto ko pang magkapamilya. Sayang ang lahi ko."

"Duwag."

"Baka magpatayan na naman tayo dito?" Ban joked.

"Pwede." I countered. Ban just laughed. "Hard pass. Sino bang gustong mamatay na?"

"Ako." I mumbled, making him stare at me for a while. He didn't respond and wiped the glass on his hand. "Gago talaga," Ban mumbled.

"A glass of Spirytus," I said to change the topic. Ban shook his head at my order but fixed me one anyway. He handed me his spirytus in a rock glass. But, the asshole brought the topic back.

"Razon, mamatay ka na ba?" Ban asked out of nowhere. My brows narrowed. "What are you saying?"

"Mamatay ka na ba?" he asked again. But I didn't reply. I don't know what's running through his head, but I do not want to fight him. "If you ask me, I want you dead," he said, which made me look. "I want this Nico dead," he said with a smirk.
