Chapter 7: The seed sprouts

His side

"G-Gabriel?" She looked shocked to see me. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?" I scowled. "H-Hindi ah," she defended weakly, then pursed her lips.

"Then why are you walking senselessly on a busy road?!"She looked so shocked that I shouted at her, and she was about to cry. "Is that how you are going to live the life I risked my life for?" I muttered warily, feeling a tinge of disappointment in my chest. "I shouldn't have saved you then!"

"Di naman sa ganun," she trailed, holding her tears back.  I raised an eyebrow at her. "Then what?!"

"Ano kasi.. nawala lang sa wisyo." she explained, pronouncing the last word with hesitation. "Fuck."

"Sorry," she said as a tear finally fell from her eye, but she immediately wiped it with her hand. "Why are you sorry?!" I rubbed the bridge of my nose, starting to feel the annoyance. I can't believe this woman.

She's a big nuisance.

"Kasi..."

"It doesn't matter," I interjected. I tried to leave, but she stopped me by grabbing onto my shirt.

"Gabriel..." I stopped and looked at her annoyingly. "What now?"

"Sorry," she said. "Why do you keep saying sorry?" I snapped.

She looked down and said, "Sorry sa lahat. Nang dahil sa akin na aksidente ka."

I sighed trying to calm myself down. "It's all in the past."

"Kahit na. Nakakaguilty pa rin." she confessed. She wiped her tears off her cheeks. I didn't know that she was this affected. "Why are you here anyway?" I asked, trying to change the topic and get an answer to what she was doing on a busy road.

"Pauwi na sana ako." She sniffed her nose. "Pero nanakawan ako kanina lang. Nakuha lahat kasama ang pamasahe ko pauwing Ilocos." she narrated sadly.

My eyes widened. "What? Were you hurt?! I can bring you to the hospital now."

She shook her head. "Are you sure?" "Oo. Di naman ako nasaktan."

"Have you reported this to the police?"

She shook her head. "Wag na. Imposible namang mahanap pa ang gamit ko."

"Kahit na. You should have reported it."

"Wag na. Aksaya lang ng oras. Saka okay na naman ako." she fended, then showed a thrifty smile.

Ang tigas ng ulo ng babaeng ito. It's not okay. It's never fine to be robbed. How can she just let that incident go? But I can't force her to report it. It's not my case and who am I to do so?

"Magaling ka na ba, Gabriel? Sorry, di ko agad natanong kanina." she asked with worry in her eyes, changing the topic.

"I'm fine. I just needed rest."

"Hay, salamat." Relief was plastered all over her face.

"How about you?" I asked back.

"Buhay pa naman." and she sniggered at her own words. "Paalis na rin ako."

Her last statement confused me. "Paano ka uuwi? You were robbed."
