Story Idea #17

-The thing was that MC never expected to be in a cliche scenario. Died by getting hit by a truck and then waking up in another world? Wow, that doesn't happen often-

-Anyways MC gets yeeted into a modern-ish superhero AU where powers are common and stuff? But the plot twist is that they wake up as a scientist of an unknown organization doing experiments on people with powers and stuff. 

-MC quite frankly doesn't know what the hell is going on. I mean they lived their life as an assistant secretary. And now they suddenly are a scientist????

-So basically MC wakes up and gets confused, but somehow adapts since it wasn't so bad, they didn't know about the human experiment parts so at first MC thought they were working for a normal science lab working on a cure for superhumans and stuff.

-Then they get promoted and introduced to the world of human experiments. Yay...?

-MC is, obviously horrified AF and tried to back out of the promotion. But now that they were in the know, the higher-ups threatened to kill MC and stuff if they left. And MC saw the states of the people that were getting experimented on, so they decided to stay. Kinda cliche ngl.

-They decided to act all cold and stuff. Just not caring for the experiment or the subjects. Outright acting cruel and stuff. But as soon as the other scientists left they would secretly care for the subjects. Tend to the wounds and stuff. They also make the experiment as painless as possible.

-MC eventually gets promoted to a higher position, leaving them more leeway to help the subjects and stuff. They freed them as soon as possible by faking deaths and stuff. This is kinda like a secretly kind human experiment scientist saving the subjects trope.

-One day, MC saves this group of kids. And I guess this kinda snowballs. Because years later MC's lab gets blown to the ground. Well, there was something that happened before that. A powerful superhuman took charge and created an association, uniting superhumans and creating a powerhouse of sorts. They instigated a crackdown on human experiments and labs. (do you see what I'm implying here?)

-And at this point in time the superhuman and powers thing got more accepted and stuff so the human experiments declined but the remaining few intensified in their experiment. The experiments? They were about how to artificially induce a superpower, or steal a superpower, and outright take away the power.

-Back to the topic, the lab where MC works gets blown to bits, all of the scientists brutally killed and the data burned into ashes. MC obviously tries to escape only to get knocked out by the raiders. 

-They woke up in some confined room. Padded and reinforced. At this point, there could be two outcomes for MC really.

-One: They got kidnapped by the kids (grown-up now), and it's some kind of fucked up gaslight gate keep girl boss thing I guess where they are too possessive and obsessed with MC and want MC to see them as their kids. 

-Or two: MC gets kidnapped by the government, forcing MC to work for them since they want to stop the growing power of the association of superhumans. And they could get resued by the kids and people they saved or MC could die.

-Either way, I didn't think too far. I just thought of a scientist saving people and stuff from human experiments and their actions somehow getting back to them (either in a good or bad way) So the ending is completely open and such.
