Story Idea #19

-Kinda similar to one of my ideas, but basically MC is a normal person in a fantasy or medieval-ish setting. They are most likely a commoner and stuff doing work just to mean enough to put food on the table but never for comfort or luxury.

-They have a best friend, could be any gender, but they are very much their soulmate (platonically or romantically Idc much, but platonically would be better tbh), one day this person gets into an accident of sorts. Ended up comatose for a week with MC visiting them and tending to them every day in worry. 

-And then this person wakes up (let's call them BFF for convenience's sake) but they are acting very strange...

-Ofc MC notices this and is kinda in despair because they suddenly start to act all cold and distant, ignoring MC and suddenly talking to the most powerful people in the whole empire. Suddenly moving up noble status and essentially leaves MC behind without so much as a goodbye.

-MC is devastated because of this, their BFF literally just up and left them with no explanation, this causes MC to go through the five stages of grief while BFF eventually gets rich/becomes a noble/ marries the emperor/empress/ or basically becomes like a super important person. 

-Some years later BFF dies of some tragic death, which could be an assassination, monster attacks, poison, revolt, or a brutal death. Pick your poison.

-MC reluctantly attends the funeral, bitter yet empty while they stare at the dead body of who once was an important person to them. They go back to their cabin, fall asleep, only to wake up a day before their BFF goes comatose.

-This causes MC to absolutely be enraged, confused, and hurt because they literally see their BFF act normal again. A whole mess of emotions that left BFF tenderly consoling a sobbing MC. 

-The accident still happens and after the BFF is passed out MC gathers their wits to finally wonder why they were sent back in time. For the whole week MC still cares for the BFF, until the last day where the BFF woke up and started acting strange again. 

-Same sequence of events, MC was angry but nothing they did stopped the BFF, as though they domt even exist. Eventually, BFF leaves, becomes an important person, and dies again. MC gets sent back in time once more. 

-A few more rounds and MC began to grow numb to the events, just accepting the fact that their, simply accepting the fact that once BFF dies, they get sent back to relieve these events again and again. Sometimes the BFF dies early in their small village, sometimes MC lives to old age until BFF dies, but it all ends the same way and MC is just tired.

-One day, after a thousand rounds, MC decided to summon a powerful demon during their 1,001th round. MC knew that they will die anyway since BFF at this round became a tyrannical emperor/empress and was planning to go to war with the neighboring empire, so MC said fuck it and decided to summon a powerful demon in hopes to at least get answers. (Why did MC wait for like the 1,001th round to do crazy shit? BC this is forbidden magic they somehow learned throughout a thousand lifetimes. They did everything else before, asking BFF, killing BFF, hiring magicians, talking to elves, goblins, fae, vampires, and even imprisoning BFF. Nothing worked)

-The demon was summoned, MC sacrificed their life force and the blood of 5 people (change to children or women or elderly, depending on how fucked up you want MC to be) along with a pure mana crystal or powerful artifact. In return, MC gets to ask the demon two questions for 2 hours because that's how much is left of MC's lifespan.

-MC asks what is happening to their world, why BFF is acting strange all of a sudden, and why MC is somehow tied to their BFF's life. The demon is amused since they saw and could feel how long MC has lived for, and their utter despair.  This demon then decides to answer MC purely because it is amused at how much pain and suffering MC has in their soul.

-The demon explained that MC is trapped in a world where the gods or higher beings control everything. BFF was chosen as the 'Main character', their soul trapped somewhere else, body left empty to let these 'Higher beings' play a part in MC's world. MC was not supposed to be tied with BFF and should forget all the rounds, but somehow BFF and MC's bond was strong enough that it let MC still be connected to a small fragment of BFF;s soul left within their body. 

-Basically MC is stuck in a game world, BFF is the main character and MC is the unwilling person roped into this whole thing. The rounds was the times BFF was played and every time the player or higher beings quit or completed the game BFF dies and so did MC.

-Hearing this MC was shocked, confused, but still largely numb due to shock. And since MC only has a few minutes left, he asks the demon how he can bring their world back, to free BFF and MC  from this wretched curse. 

-The demon laughs at this, cackling before answering MC. They explained that it is almost impossible to break free from this curse. Multiple worlds had been subjected to this curse and so far none had broken free, only disintegrating or fading away in ruin once these higher beings had their fun or decided to destroy the world completely. 

-But there is a way, it just requires a lot of sacrifices and bloodshed. MC, who was desperate at this point and had lost most of their good morals along those 1,000 rounds, decided to take this path on. 

-The demon grinned and told MC that in order to release their world from the higher beings' clutches, MC must slay these higher beings. It is no easy task as they are in another realm in the first place, only a few have managed to transcend and go to this realm, but no one has yet to succeed in slaying gods. 

-MC don't care, they knew they had to be strong for this and they don't care anymore. The demon was a malicious being and seeing the opportunity, decided to offer MC a deal. The demon will help MC get strong, stronger than any man or woman in their world, strong enough to slay the gods that are trapping MC and BFF in the world. In return, MC must help the demon become the 'demon king/queen' and let the demon have MC's soul by the end of MCs path.

-Mc, who is not thinking rationally at all for like the past 100 rounds, accepted the demon's deal. 

-I don't really know how this will end tbh, it's a story idea I came up with at work so I don't have an ending. But it will be a story where the demon and MC grow strong together, fight and kill people, monsters, and gods, potentially release their world from the gods control, free BFF would, and MC either dies by the demons hands or something else happens. 

-You could interpret these higher beings as anything, in my vision they were 'us' people. Players of games and stuff y'know? Or they were a version of us, just more powerful and all divine. It could be a symbolism or nah. MC, BFF, and demon could be any gender. Also, you could make it so that Demon and MC grow attached to each other tbh.

-I'd like to imagine that MC has become so jaded and fucked up they have no qualms against killing children or elderly people because they are so fucking tired and depressed that their original persona was completely taken over by this pragmatic, efficient, cold, and unfeeling killing machine that the demon sometimes fears. 

-And BFF is like aware of all the things they're doing, so they were also aware of when MC changed, they literally watched their body leave MC all the time and they were so drowned in shame and guilt that when MC made that when they found out about the deal with the demon BFF was half supportive and half blaming themselves for this whole situation. Essentially they are a spectator to their own body and also depressed, in pain, and ashamed also guilty AF.
