Chapter 7- Hope

I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep this secret from Ells... She's my best friend, not to mention my sister and I love her more than anything. I'm supposed to keep her safe and make sure that she's safe until she can do it on her own.

"Before we go in, I just want you guys to know... I didn't call and tell you guys to go shopping."

Alice sucked in a breath, "what?" Everyone was looking at her now, and she was almost in tears.

"But... I talked to you on the phone. You told me that she needed new clothes for your new house..... if I didn't talk to you then who did I talk to?"

I let out a sigh, "It's not your fault. Hunters are deceptive, especially the ones who work for the saints. That pack has been out to get us ever since Ellie was born."

"What's so special about her?" I don't think Paul's question meant to sound harsh, but it did.

"She's human. She know's all of our secrets. She's more fragile than any of us." I didn't know what else to say about her. Our family is royalty in the supernatural world, and our parents will look down upon us for making alliances with non-royal blood.

"I'm going to go check on her," Carlisle said. I nodded and stayed with the others.

"Why do you guys have powers?" Jacob blurted, and I sent a look of irritation at Grayson.

"It's a long story. Our ancestors made a deal with some very powerful people in the twelfth century, and ever since our bloodline has been feared amongst the supernatural world."

"So, you're the alpha. Not of your alliances pack also, but just your own?" Jared asked simply.

"No. We do not have an alpha. Everyone thinks it's me and I let it go because it keeps the target mainly focused on me, but we don't have an alpha king. Grayson is the alpha king of his pack, which includes, Ander, Cole, Grant, and Kylie." I let out a breath, hoping that Grayson would take over, but his mind was on Ellie, it was always on Ellie.

"Jax, Poppy, Clover, Willow, and myself do not have an alpha king or queen."

"Why is it called alpha king or queen and not just alpha?"

"Our blood is royal," I said simply as I heard Carlisle walking back.

"Declan, I was wondering if I could talk to you privately about Ellie, before you go see her there is something you should know." I looked up at Jacob when he spoke. I really just want to see Ellie but he saved her life, I owe him. I watched with a sigh as Grayson and Ander went with Carlisle to go see my sister and I went in the opposite direction with Jacob.

He sighed, "Look, I don't know how many hunters are out there after how many Ellie killed, but I think we should have someone with her at all times, people from our pack and people from yours and Graysons. I don't think it would be smart to leave her alone, it was so easy for them to get her before."

I nodded, " I think that's a great plan, but I'm sure you didn't see what you thought, Ellie couldn't have killed people, especially if she was shot twice." Did this kid even know what he was talking about.

But he took a step forward, lowering his voice, "there was at least seven guys. They were all dead when I got there, Ellie was the only person in that building with a heartbeat."

Declan, Grayson, and Ander all looked at me as if I had three heads, although that would explain the terrible, heart shattering pain I was in. Carlisle had given me a few extra minutes after I had woken up to let the medicine and sleeping medicine wear off, and boy was I feeling the pain. I was going to press the morphine button again, but I had already pushed it three minutes ago so that might cause some alarm.
