"LIITLE JULES!" RICHARD EXCLAIMS. I gasp, "What are you guys doing here oh my gosh?!" I turn to face Bree whose gaze is fixed onto my face. She shrugs with a tone that matches my confusion. Must be the plan Richard was keeping from her.
"Well, this may sound like a shock but we're moving back to the banks!" My heart drops, what. "You're not joking?" He shakes his head side to side.
"I found a job opportunity at a small law firm on the other side of the island so it's quite a way from here. I knew it was time for Bree to come back home and get to live the rest of her high school years and summers here."
"That's wonderful! Isn't it Julie? Tell them how wonderful that is," Mrs. Heyward urges.
Bree looks at her, "Who's Julie?" The secrets I've kept from her are just really unveiling today, I guess.
I quickly recover, "That's just my new nickname! It's way cuter, you know?" She gives a weak smile and nods.
Mrs. Heyward signals me to come down from the stairs as I've now been standing here for the past 3 minutes. I walk down and accept the hug offered by Richard. Pope lies on the couch as dad rushes to get ready for work.
Pope turns around from the couch and observes us all for a moment then turns around uninterested.
Bree scratches the back of her neck, "We didn't expect to see you today. We thought you'd be with your friends." I furrow my eyebrows together, even more confusion to add to the morning.
"Why woul-"
Mrs. Heyward interrupts me, "We told them you'd be out with your friends this morning but since the hurricane had other plans.."
I slowly nod, "Okay then! Bree come upstairs I'll show you my room."
She quickly follows me upstairs as I sense Richard and Mrs. Heyward look at us from behind. I don't have the intention to show her my room but instead have a talk on why the hell she's really here.
