«» "WHY ARE THEY ALL SUCH ASSHOLES?" A thunderous boom cracks in the sky.
"They're not the assholes you are Julie," Pope snaps back. I hold up my hands as though I'm asking for mercy and smirk. He gets so worked up so so quickly.
I walk through the tall grass and my newly gifted converse get soaked in mud. I can feel the wetness begin to soak through the sole of my shoe and into my socks, making my feet wet. This stupid walk will be the death of me one of these days.
"Just cause I stopped hanging out with you guys and because Bree moved doesn't mean-"
He huffs, "Let's just get to the car maybe? I can't deal with your spoiled self right now." Ouch. I nod anyway though, agreeing to cooperate and shut my mouth. Even I know when to drop it sometimes.
So for the rest of the walk back, no noise is made except for the whistling wind and booms of the thunder. I pop a piece of pink bubblegum into my mouth and begin to savor the flavor.

As the rain patters on top of the roof of the car and drops slide down the windows, we drive through the heavy weather in silence. I glare over at him trying to keep up us on the road at the same time, "Eyes ahead." He says sternly.
I tuck a piece of my hair behind my ear, "So, JJ, what's his deal?" I ask, "Why was he in such a shitty mood?" No, it's not like I like him or at least I don't now. When we were younger, I may have but things change. People change. I've had my share in boyfriends and people, so I'm absolutely done with love.
He turns to face me, his eyebrows frowning, "Since when do you give a shit about JJ?"
I shrug, "Was just wondering I guess I donno," I giggle, "I mean jeez, after your reaction I would like to think you two are hooking up!" His mouth drops and he seems to be so very offended that the next thing I know is he's smacking me and yelling in anger.
