The bus shutters to a stop and shakes Angelina awake from her nap.
Her eyes opened to a whole new world. Like a kid, she got on her knees on the seat and slammed her face on the bus window.
There were buildings of all types crowded together right next to the busy streets with all types of cars; old, new, blue, yellow, red and black. Lights and sound sprinkled the town; Babies crying, cars honking, workers working on construction, and people talking in the streets. This is nothing like where she was imprisoned. Now she could be free here.
She noticed people getting off the bus and she joins the line.
Angelina saw the familiar brown Afro above the person in front of her. And oh was that person complaining about how big that man's Afro was.
"I just want to cut that big ugly thing myself." The lady murmured.
Angelina didn't know if the man just didn't hear, or if he was ignoring the lady, but she suddenly felt the urge to protect the Afro man. No one should say such mean things to anyone no matter how ugly they are. Not that the afro man is ugly. Angelina quickly added to her thought. She took her backpack off and hit it purposely hard on the lady's shin.
"What the!" The lady yelled sharply.
Everyone turned back to stare at the scene Angelina created.
"I'm sorry, my backpack is just extremely heavy and when I was trying to get it off my back, I lost control of it." She lied innocently.
Wow she was getting better at this.
"Whatever, stupid Latina. Just make sure to be careful with that. What's in it anyway? A body?" The lady asked chuckling at her own joke.
Angelina had to hold back an eye roll. There will be if you don't shut up she thought. She spotted the Afro man's brown eyes on her and she stared back at him.
He sort of smiled. She couldn't really tell because his beard covered up much of his face. But she gave him a small smile and looked down, afraid her face was showing her emotions again.
Angelina made her way off the bus and saw it was now sunset. It was getting late. Angelina felt a warm hand grab her bare arm; it made a shiver go down her spine. The word "Rape" raced across her mind in urgent letters. She ripped away the person's grip without looking at their face and she ran off as fast as her feet could take her.
Her hair slapped against her face as she ran with the bag on her back. She stopped until she couldn't see the old bus and let out a sigh.
A car honked at her making her almost jump out of her sneakers. She quickly got out of the street she was standing in and took a seat on the curb of the concrete ground to catch her breath.
"Gosh, almost raped and almost getting rolled over in one day." She said to herself.
Wow, maybe being on her own would be harder then she thought. She took her water bottle out her bag and drunk a good 3 quarters.
She would need more soon. But first she needed shelter... a cheap hotel would be just fine. Angelina hopped up on her feet and started peering at the many buildings searching for a possible hotel nearby. It wasn't long until she spotted one. The yellow building looked pretty shabby with its chipped paint, but it would have to do, I mean all her life, she has had only 1st class and luxury. This would be a great change for her. She took a deep breath and walked in with a smile.

Angelina dropped her SouthFace bag by the small brown desk that had been placed by her bed and hopped on her neatly made bed feeling exhausted from all the running she did today. She probably burned over 1000 calories. The room was painted white, the floor was dark wood, and the room smelled fresh like soap. This wasn't that bad for 89 bucks a week.
