I roll over in bliss and she shifts next to me. Nothing like reading a classic novel on the beach. "Gloria, you've got to read this. Fitzgerald puts the beauty in literature." I know it's a fruitless pursuit. While my books sigh at the seams and breathe into me the experiences of a thousand lives, I'm certain that the only life she'd rather languish in was her own.
