REMINISCENCE / / / SECOND: Dawn of The Solver's Reign

We open up back in Tessa's room, J is trying to break the chains by biting them. Whilst Tessa speaks to her overdramatically.

Tessa: "It wants paid time off... To attend UUUNION NEGOTIATIOOOONS!"

Suddenly, a knocking at the door is heard which makes J and Tessa stop what they're doing and quickly act like nothing is happening.

Tessa: "U-uh, Who is it..?"

Reed: "Tessa, it's me Reed, get J to open the door. I already know you're chained up."

J walks over and opens the door cautiously and sees Reed standing there.

Reed: "Can I speak with you guys?"

J nods and Reed steps into the room and shuts the door.

Reed: "I'm done working with your parents, Tessa. I'm also calling the cops on them and breaking you out of here, let me help you with that chain."

Reed pulls out a small Laser-Cutter tool and slowly cuts the chain off of Tessa.

Reed: "If it's any comfort, I've sent V2 out to grab your little butler-bot."

Tessa: "How could I ever thank you for this?"

Reed: "Your shitty parents being behind bars is thanks enough."

Tessa smiles at Reed gratefully and J also seems touched by the moment.

Reed: "Where's Cyn?"

Tessa and J suddenly remember what Cyn was planning.

Tessa: "O-oh, right! Reed, Cyn is planning to murder everyone at the Gala, we need to stop her!"

Reed suddenly goes silent, making Tessa and J confused before he speaks again.

Reed: "I can't help you."

Tessa: "W-what..?"

J: "What do you mean?! Isn't it your job to handle threats like that?"

Reed: "I just can't, you don't understand."

Tessa: "People are in danger and you just don't feel like helping?!"

It clearly hurts Reed deep inside to hear Tessa of all people say that to him.

Reed: "All that can be done is you grab V2 and N and run, anything involving fighting back isn't worth the risk."

J: "When did you become so damn heartless, Reed!?"

Reed: "There are things about Cyn that you don't understand."

That singular statement suddenly makes something click in Tessa and J's heads.

J: "Wait, how much do you know about Cyn?"

Reed: "...More than a living man should know."

Tessa: "Did she... hurt you? Is that why you don't want to fight her?"

Reed: "She would have hurt more than just me if I didn't do as she said. So if you know what's good for you all, you'll run as far from here as possible."

Reed then turns and leaves the room and Tessa and J look at each other with the same thought in mind...

Reed sits silently in his room, all of his belongings packed up and ready to leave, but Reed is still in thought about what's going to happen at the Gala, sighing to himself whilst looking at a picture of him, Tessa, N, V and J together happily.

Reed: "God, things just couldn't be normal for long, could they?"

He puts the picture down, thinking to himself in silence.
