JOHNNY GRABBED OINTMENT AND A BANDAGE for the cut on Mavis's cheek from the other girl's nail that had gotten caught on her skin. On the other hand, he held a shirt of Mia's that she had given him to help cover her up. Mavis stared at the shirt that looked much too small for her unless it was all an optical illusion. Mavis hardly ever wore form-fitting clothing, and the only option it seemed was this tube top from a girl she had only just met.

"You can sit on the counter," Johnny told her, gently holding her cheek awkwardly. She looked at him in confusion.

"That can't possibly be comfortable," Mavis responded quickly. Johnny shook his head with his lips pursed. His tongue darted out to wet his lips while he tried to dab the cut through her skin gently. "Do you need me to—"

"Mavis, it's fine. You're just really short," The blond boy admitted to her, stepping back to allow her some space. Mavis inhaled a bit and nodded. He seemed exasperated, and for the third time since meeting him, she felt ashamed of taking up his time.

"Okay," She whispered meekly. Johnny tilted his head at the shyness in her voice. He watched her silently while she jumped up to sit on the counter while facing him. Only then were they equally matched in height. "I surrender to the great Johnny Lawrence." He cracked a small smile at her attempt at a joke, no matter how unfunny she knew it to be.

Johnny resumed cleaning the blood out of her cut while ignoring how she winced. Mavis bit back a scowl at the intrusive thoughts that popped up in her head. Either she hadn't been in the presence of a boy recently, or the party had really gotten to her, because the loud dance music that was muffled by the door was only adding to her foggy state of mind.

"Why did you come here?" Johnny asked Mavis suddenly. He dabbed at the cut again to make sure it was completely clean. Mavis felt that he was taking longer than necessary, but she decided to let him do his thing.

"You asked me?" It came out like more of a question than a statement, something Mavis had been doing a lot recently. "If you've got second thoughts because you're stuck taking care of me then just know you don't have to."

"I know I asked you. But I also feel like we pressured you," Johnny admitted quietly. He shrugged his shoulders, and the leather of his jacket touched her bare arms when he carefully pressed a bandaid to her skin. "I know we can be intimidating."

"Trust me, you're really not." She found herself staring at his face, taking in his eyes, his hair, and his lips ( that were slightly puffy ). "I wouldn't have come if I felt pressured," Mavis promised. Johnny nodded, accepting her answer.

"So, um, I'm just gonna wait outside while you change your—" He awkwardly pointed to her clothes that had a mixed drink spilled all over it. Mavis looked down at it with a frown, knowing that she'd have to spend time tonight to scrub the stains out.
