The wolves were trudging through a desolate landscape that was blanketed in snow, with a blizzard raging around them. The trees bent with the weight of it. The icy onslaught of hail, razor-sharp ice shards, and clumps of hard snow pelted them from all directions, causing them to slow down and chill to their bones.

As they made their way, a piercing howl suddenly split the roar of the wind. It was a pained and desperate sound that echoed through the eerie silence, begging for help and comfort from a mate. The last wolf turned around upon hearing a sound. He was a black and dark grey wolf, with red tints on the top of his back. He sensed a feeling of desperation, pain, and calling for him. As he looked back, he noticed the group making their way towards the entrance, which was covered in vines obstructing the way to the den, the place they called Home. Although the wolf desired to follow them, he knew he couldn't leave.

He was the Alpha, and it was his responsibility to care, provide, and protect them. The wolf in front of him came to a stop. It was a young light grey and white wolf, with sharp eyes that never missed anything. The young wolf stood next to him, looking toward the direction from where the howl came from. "Is it Her?" he asked, glancing up at the taller wolf. The taller wolf nodded affirmatively. "Are you planning to go after her, Alpha?" The Alpha growled with concern. "You know I can't leave her out here, Greyfur." Greyfur nodded, then looked back out into the forest. "Go then. I'll take care of the rest while you're gone. Don't take too long, Alpha Redcoat." Greyfur said, starting to leave. Redcoat nodded in thanks, then sprinted off towards the howl, which was still ringing through the forest.

As the wind whipped through the dense forest, he ran with a singular purpose, his heart beating faster with each stride. He had to reach her, his mate. With every leap over fallen logs, he felt the adrenaline pumping through his veins, powering him forward. He skinned past trees, dodging branches and leaves, and kicked up snow as he raced towards her.

With a sudden burst of energy, he broke through the trees, and a clearing opened up in front of him. There, in the center of the clearing, stood a female with a brown and grey coat, with dark purple tints on her back. She was the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes on, and he felt his heart skip a beat.

Without hesitation, he ran towards her, his eyes locked onto hers, and he felt a surge of joy and relief wash over him. He had found her, his mate. She was on her side, in great pain. Her sides heaved with breath as she panted heavily. Blood stained the snow surrounding her and she seemed in great pain. When she saw him, she gave a pained smile. "Took you.... long enough," she said through gritted teeth. Her body convulsed and she yelped in pain. Her glazed eyes looked at Redcoat, who trotted toward her, sniffing and nuzzling her head. "The pups are coming," she gasped, and he gasped with her.

He scanned the area for a secure spot to shelter her during her labor. A towering and rugged cliff stood above them, its peak arching out like the Pride Rock in The Lion King. As he gazed downwards, he noticed a tiny aperture - just large enough for both of them to fit through. He leaned down to whisper reassuring words in her ear, promising to protect them and telling her everything would be alright. With great care, he grabbed her scruff with his teeth and dragged her towards the small cave, being careful not to hurt her. Her name was Nightpaw, and she whimpered and convulsed in pain, praying that her pups would be okay.

Redcoat and Nightpaw settled next to each other, with Redcoat lying on the floor and leaning on the cave wall, while Nightpaw leaned against him. Nightpaw was panting and groaning in pain as she gave birth to a pup. There were no complications, and the pup, with her eyes closed, was facing the outside of the cave. As the snow picked up and the wind howled louder, a chorus welcomed the pup's birth. Suddenly, a wolf made out of snow walked into the cave silently. The pup's eyes opened halfway, and she looked up at the wolf that was looming above her and staring intently at her.

The wolf howled to the sky and jumped into the pup. The pup's brown and grey coat turned into pure white, her eyes turning a brilliant shade of very light blue, almost white.

That was the day of my birth. My name is Snowstar.
