Chapter Four

Taraji

I woke up to my mom yelling at my dad. At this point I didn't care I just let them argue, I was so tired. It was a long day at school. it wasn't until I heard glass shattering and my sisters screaming. I jumped out of my bed and went to my nightstand grabbing my glock and putting it under my shirt. I ran downstairs almost busting my ass. I saw glass everywhere and my sisters in the corner holding each other. My mom was bleeding on the floor. "What happened?" I asked Nia. She was in shock, I slowly walked towards them trying to calm them down I asked again this time she answered me. "Dad, he started throwing things at mom. He hit in the head the glass vase and mirror off the wall."

"Go to the car, I'll be there in a minute." Nia took Baby D to the car, when I saw that they were in there safely I went to my mom and checked for a pulse. There was and pulse and I could see her chest rising. I left her there not wanting to make things worse. I went to the car and took them to go get ice cream. I know Nia is too old for me to be trying to help her forget what happened with ice cream, but D wasn't.

When I got to the ice cream shop, we waited in line which felt like forever. Before I knew it, we were finally at the front of the line. There she was just standing there I couldn't say anything every time I was around her I felt like I couldn't breathe. "Welcome to Double Scoop Ice Cream Shop, what can I get for you today, Taraji?" She said smiling from ear to ear. I didn't respond I was at a loss for words. Nia looked at me weirdly before telling Fantasia the order. "I'm so sorry for my rude sister, um can I have one Brownie Sundae? What do you want D?" " OREO" "I will also have an Oreo ice cream. Raji, what do you want?" "I don't want anything. Here take my card I'll be sitting over there" I gave Nia my card and walked to the booth at the entrance.

I texted my best friend, Rihanna, she was the only one that knew how I felt about Fantasia. After a while Nia and D came to the table. Nia handed me my card before she hit my arm. "Ow, what was that for?" "You're staring. It's rude" I guess I didn't realize I was staring at her again. "What's up with you? Why do you keep staring at her like that?" "Like what?" "Like you want to F U C K her right here in this store." "what's F U C K mean?" "Nothing you need to know. Just because you spell it doesn't mean she is not going to repeat it."

She rolled her eyes, and I hit her arm. "Roll them again and see what happened." "Whatever, are you going to answer my question" "I don't know what you're talking about" "Don't play dumb, you like her?" "I don't know" "What do you mean you don't know?" "What I said I don't know. I've never been attracted to a female before, it's just something about her." "Go get her number" "Already have it" "DAMN" Everybody was looking at us like we were crazy. "Would you shut up" "I'm sorry, but damn you move quick?" "We have the same second period, our teacher is making us do a buddy project. I'm supposed to go to her house tomorrow after school." "Oooo....Get your freak on girl" I busted out laughing.

I let them finish their ice cream because there is no way in hell they're getting in my car with that shit. "Take D to the bathroom and clean her up she is all sticky" "Okay, what are you about to do?" "Mind my Business" she grabbed D and took her to the bathroom. While they were in the bathroom I went up to Fantasia. She looks shocked and confused to see in standing there. "I'm sorry for being rude earlier." "It's okay, how old are your sisters?"

"Sixteen and four" "That's so cute. They look so sweet and happy to be with you" "Nia is not sweet, that's a front. Destiny is the sweet one." "I think it sweet you take them out for ice cream" "Yeah, I do it to take their minds off of the stuff at home" "I'm sorry that you have to do that. How about you bring them to my house tomorrow when you come. I have kids' destiny's age that she can play with. I also have a pool for Nia to swim in." "Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother." "Yeah. Well, I talk to you later, my boss is going to be up my ass because you're holding up the line."

She laughs at the face I made when I turned around to see people waiting. I waved bye and proceeded outside to the car to my surprise Nia and D were already in the car. I drove home but went around the block a couple of time so D can go to sleep. When I finally parked the car, I told Nia to get d and put her to sleep. While she was getting her out of the car I went in the house. My mom was still in the same spot as before. It had been about an hour and a half since we left.

I went to go check on her, when I turned her over there was blood coming out of her mouth and nose. she had a huge ass gash on her forehead. Nia come walking into the house I tried to hide it so she wouldn't have to see it, but I was too late.

MOM...MOMMY

I think her screams were the worst thing I have ever heard. "HEY, I NEED YOU TO CALM DOWN AND CALL 911. TELL THEM OUR MOM IS BLEEDING OUT OF HER MOUTH, NOSE, AND FOREHEAD." She just stood there crying, I knew she was in shock, but I need her to call 911 "NIA, CALL THE FUCKING COPS
