"Harmony."
I sighed and slowed down, recognizing the voice behind me. I've been ignoring Harry's texts and calls for days. He's been sort of an asshole lately.
He grabbed my elbow, "Harmony."
"What?"
"Why are you ignoring me? Did I do something wrong?"
I shook my head, "No."
"Then why the fuck are you ignoring me?"
I sighed, "because you can't just tell someone to stop hanging out with their best friend. You can't just tell someone to shut up when they're trying to make things right. Can you not see how controlling you are?"
He sighed, too, and nodded.
"Like you get where I'm coming from right?"
"Yeah. I get it."
The rest of the day when we saw each other in the hallways we didn't make eye contact. In math I cried again but he didn't comfort me like he usually did.

Harry: I'm sorry
Me: it's okay
Me: it's not your fault
Harry: yes it is
Harry: I have to tell you something
Me: what is it?
Harry: can you come over?
Me: why can't you just tell me over text?
Me: are you going to break up with me?
Harry: Harmony, no
Harry: just please come over..

It was a cold walk over. My hands were in my pockets the whole time. When I got to the house I knocked on the door and he answered, "Brr." He pulled me in, "sort of cold, isn't it?" He chuckled.
"Harry, what is going on?"
He took a deep breath and shut his eyes, "I have something to tell you."
"Yes, I know. What is it?"
"I have cancer."
My eyes got wide and everything suddenly felt like a dream. I don't remember if I cried or not because I was still half asleep. "What?"
"I have a tumor in my head, harmony." I think you might have cried. All I can remember is the tone of your voice and how it cracked when you said my name.
and how you told me you were dying.
