Cassiel's head whipped up as he looked at the emperor, incredulously. Selene sighed quietly, seeing how he barely managed to stop himself from exclaiming.

"I was under the impression that it would be the first prince getting engaged to me. Was there some problem?" Selene asked pretending to be confused.

"Well it seems that with your condition now, the position of my first son's fiancée would be quite dangerous. But since the engagement cannot be cancelled, the second prince will be the one getting engaged to you." The emperor explained.

The duke who was silent suddenly put a hand on Selene's shoulder, " There is no need for you to go with this, if you don't want to."

"Just don't make a decision that someone would regret later." The emperor said, looking at the duke meaningfully.

The duke's hand tightened on Selene's shoulder as he looked at her expectantly. He was ready to go all out to fight for his daughter's wish.

Selene raised an eyebrow at the duke's passionate support. She did expect it, considering how easily the villainess had managed to get herself engaged to the male lead. The high tension between the duke and the emperor was unexpected.

"I will go with this arrangement, but on two conditions." Selene paused and continued when the emperor nodded, "One, this engagement should on no circumstances, get dissolved before I turn nineteen. And two, both parties should be able to break it with appropriate reasons, after that."

"That can easily be arranged. Alright since both parties have agreed to it, shall we proceed to the document signing?"

"Milady, are you sure of your decision about your engagement?" Anna asked quietly.

"Are you doubting my decision, Anna?" Selene asked, looking away from the carriage's window.

"Of course not! It's just, you had your eyes on the first prince for so long....so I was worried if you had just agreed to the engagement with the second prince on impulse." Anna explained.

"You don't have to be concerned about that. there is a reason behind my action, you will understand it eventually." Selene said mysteriously.

Before signing of the documents, she had made sure that all her conditions were in black and white. The engagement will be announced when she will turn fourteen, most likely on her debutante, that is two years from now.

Although everyone thought she was the most wronged one in this engagement. The real victim in her opinion was not her but actually Casiel. The poor boy agreed to sign the papers for the engagement he had no idea of just a few minutes ago, with a look and few words from the emperor.

She also caught a glimpse of golden hair as she walked out of the throne room. It seemed the crown prince was indeed present there as he was in the novel.

She immediately went to the room to rest after such an exhausting event. As a person who is more used to staying in the shadow, interacting and talking with unfamiliar people has always been a tire to her.

Fenrir who had been waiting for both of them to return, immediately caught ahold of Anna took her with him outside to hear about the events that happened in the palace from her. As a result, Selene was left alone to rest peacefully. But it didn't last long-

"May I come in?" Alexis asked, knocking on the door.

'May I get a longer rest next time,' Selene prayed as she got up-'At least this time he had manners enough to not just barge into the room.'
