One, Two and Three stepped out of the taxi.
"This is it!" One exclaimed. "America! And now, we're going to meet real AMERICAN students!"
"Be careful, One! Don't get too enthusiastic yet, we don't know what these people are like. Remember those British Year 7s we met when we first accidentally no clipped out of Numberland?" Two worried.
"It'll be fine, Two. Look on the bright side! We found a way to gain our powers back, and now we're finally going to continue the school tradition competition!" One reassured Two.
"Would you guys stop yapping? This school better be worth the 7-hour flight, my dress got ruined!" Three complained.
While all three of them headed off to find Jefferson High School, John, Andrew, Penny and Michael were reading the letters that their teachers had handed them earlier.
"It's like... some sort of competition against another school- Only 30 of us got to be accepted into the competition, and we got ones who were accepted!" Michael, a large dark-skinned 16-year-old boy, exclaimed.
Penny, who was a short 16-year-old girl with light curly hair, started smiling and jumping up and down while skimming through the letter. "Oh my gosh, I've heard about this! Way before any of us enrolled, Jefferson High, our school, had yearly competitions against the Year 11s in the Numberblocks Secondary School!"
Andrew's eyes widened. He stood in silence for a while before finally looking at his girlfriend, Penny, and muttered, "Numberblocks? Numberblocks Secondary School?" Andrew, a pretty short boy with dark, straight and long hair, read through the paper again.
Penny nodded. "It says here I'm the Math representative! How cool is that!?"
"Damn, I'm the art representative!" Jonathan, nicknamed John, who was a tall, freckled guy with curly short hair, smiled.
"Well, I'm the Whole School Representative! Beat that!" Michael said. "What about you, Andrew?"
"Oh, um... I'm the theatre representative." He replied.
All of a sudden, an announcement came out from the school speaker:
May all students selected for the School Curriculum Contest please report to the assembly hall, thank you.
On the other hand, One, Two and Three had just arrived at the school and started setting up the assembly. One was rushing everywhere, trying to remember what she had to say before getting distracted and walking out of the hall and tried to talk to random students passing. Two was trying to keep One under control and Three was fiddling with her juggling balls, completely uninterested.
When they heard the speaker, they all rushed onto the stage behind the curtains, waiting for everyone.
"Oh my maths, they're finally coming!" One squealed.
Two sighed. He hadn't seen One more excited about anything else. He was happy for her, but now he was getting annoyed- She was being more hyperactive than Eighteen!
When students and teachers started coming in, he realised that One was becoming nervous. She was fiddling with her hair and biting her nails. "One, relax, it'll be okay." Two whispered. One smiled. Three rolled her eyes.
"Just because I'm Three doesn't mean I have to be the third wheel." Three muttered. Two gave her the Death stares.
Andrew, John, Penny and Michael entered the assembly hall and sat on the bleachers with other kids who were selected to compete. John looked at the small crowd to see if anyone else he knew was competing and spotted someone.
"Ugh, James and his stupid minions, Francais and Henry are competing too..."John pointed out. For years, James, Francais and Henry had been bullying him.
"Ew, James' girlfriend and her stupid sister are too..."Penny replied, pointing to Angela, James' girlfriend, and Bethany, the world's most annoying pick-me girls.
Once everyone had arrived, Jefferson High's headteacher (or principal as you Americans say) came out and started the assembly. "Welcome students, you all have been chosen to come here for a special reason. We have recognised your skills and have chosen all 30 of you to participate in the School Curriculum Contest. We will be flying to an Island called Number Isle and competing against Numberblocks Secondary School. We have invited three students from the other school to explain how it will work. Please welcome: One, Two and Three!"
One and Two hadn't realised that it was their cue so Three had to awkwardly push them and they argued for a couple a seconds, but in whispers. Three shut them up and One started.
"Erm... Hello Jefferson High School. My name is One." One heard some people giggle. She tried to ignore it. "Um... So... Two, Three and I have come all the way here to give you all... um... this great- ni, wait... amazing, yeah, opportunity."
John whispered something in Andrew's ear. "All three of them look no older than ten years old..."
Andrew nodded, not really listening to John.
"So, erm... The School Curriculum Contest is a... um..." One started to forget her lines out of fear. She could hear the whole room laughing at her. Was she even worthy enough to stand up here and talk in front of everyone? This, tiny, irrelevant number surely couldn't, shouldn't, be even noteworthy enough to represent the school...
Three noticed One's silent panic and she stepped in. "It's a Contest that holds different subjects for students to compete in, such as art competitions, football matches and races."
One sighed, relieved, and thanked Three. "Right, and your teachers have decided out of... um... your entire school to find the most gifted students to compete against ours. It'll be taking place in... our school. Yeah."
"So you'll need consent from your parents to travel to Numberland- I mean, Number Isle." Two started his bit of the speech. "We'll be taking care of all the flight costs, so... yeah. If you read the letter, you would know that... you have all been chosen as some sort of representative."
"This will be what you specialise in the Contest, and what you represent. When you arrive to the school, you will be given a day to settle in and then, the contest will begin!" Three continued.
After a while, One, Two and Three finished the assembly and went back to their hotel.

A week had passed and all the Jefferson High students started boarding the plane. The three numbers had changed into their school uniform, which included a white collared shirt, a jumper that had their number on it, a blazer with the school's symbol and either a skirt or pants.
"This is it! We're going back and in a week and a half, we'll start competing!" One exclaimed. One had booked everyone first-class seats out of generosity.
On the seats right behind One, Two and Three were none other than Andrew, John, Penny and Michael.
"You know, I've been reading about this competition, and apparently the School Curriculum Contest is a tradition between our school and Numberblocks Secondary! And it was abandoned ten years ago but now it's started over again!" Penny said.
"Okay, nerd." Andrew teased her and kissed her on the cheek. Penny giggled.
"Pfft, lovebirds." John rolled his eyes. Michael chuckled.
10 boring hour later, the plane had arrived in Number Isle. Right outside, Ten was waiting for One and Two and Thirty was was waiting in a car to pick up Three.
Three went with Thirty and Ten led everyone else to a bus stop to Numberblocks Secondary School. And so, a new experience began.
