(Madison's POV:)

"I'll meet you at the gate, alright?" Liam mumbled, blinking slowly at me as his grip on my hand loosened.

"Five minutes, please." I sighed, reaching up and running my hand through his dishevelled hair.

"I'm sure you can go half an hour without seein' me, Mads." He leant down, our lips meeting in the littlest peck.

"Okay, okay. I'll see you soon." A small smile crossed my face before I backed away from the stairwell and back onto the corridor.

I hadn't even made it six feet down the corridor before I heard that familiar tone.

"You and our Liam a thing then?" Danny called out to me, a smug grin on his face.

"What's it to you?" My smile was replaced by a grimace, my tone suddenly agitated.

"Just thought you should know it was a bet on my part," He shrugged, his eyebrows lifting. "Have you shagged yet? I don't wanna owe him twenty five quid."

"Piss off." I scoffed, rolling my eyes. I tried my hardest to ignore him, even if it did make sense.

I managed to get out of school long before Liam did, I didn't want to see him at all. It all made sense now.

◇◇◇

I awoke to a rapid tapping at my window. It must've been at least midnight, and I could only think of one person it could be.

I slowly pulled the curtain back, and there he was.

"Where have ya been?" Liam huffed as I opened the window, he was practically shivering from the cold outside.

I frowned at him, and the concerned look on his face. I'd never seen anything like it. Most of all, I wondered about how on earth he'd managed to climb up to my window.

"Well, your mate Danny told me that what we have here," I gestured between the two of us, "was a bet." I scoffed at him, my eyebrows raising.

I watched his face drop, and before I could do anything, he was sat perched on the edge of my windowsill.

"I won't lie to ya Mads, I won't." He shook his head slowly. "That's how it started, but I genuinely like ya. You're sweet, and you're mad pretty, and- You know I'm not good with words." He looked up at me, our eyes meeting.

"You're no better the the rest of 'em." I frowned, folding my arms over my chest. "You may as well have been bullying me too."

I saw his eyes widen.

"I've never felt like this for a girl before, Mads, never, and I'll say it right here, right now.." He paused momentarily, loudly clearing his throat. "I love ya, Madison McCarthy, I really do."

I felt my jaw drop, and a hot blush came to my face.

"And before you say anythin' I'll tell ya how much of a sop I'm being about all this. I can't listen to music without thinkin' about you, Mads, when I'm out with mates I'm dreamin' of the next time you can teach me about metaphors and fuckin' pathetic fallacy or whatever it's called." He rambled on, barely taking any breaths.

"Oh, Liam-" Before I could even utter any more words he had cut me off.

"Noel gets annoyed at me because I talk about you too much. Even my ma told me to lay it off." He shook his head, chuckling under his breath.

"I love you too." I blurted it out before the words could even process in my mind.

"Ya do?" He mumbled, looking up with his eyebrows raised.

If he hadn't wooed me before he had definitely wooed me now.

"Of course I do, ya daft twat." I nodded, smiling softly at him.

He practically tackled me to the bed afterwards, his arms encircling me in a big bear hug. Then his lips were on mine in a sealing kiss.

◇◇◇

I woke up the next morning and the first thing I thought was that it was freezing, I'd forgot to close the window, and I'd left mine and Liam's clothes strewn all over the floor.

Then I thanked God my mum wasn't home the night before.

Liam still lay next to me, snoring louder than I thought humanly possible.

I went down to make us both tea and by the time I came back up he was awake.

"Mornin' Mads." He croaked, rubbing his eyes as I handed him the mug.

"Got to sugars in it, weirdo." I snorted, climbing back under the covers next to him and began to prop myself up against the headboard.

I thought about what I'd done with Liam, and guilt began to rush to my mind. If anyone I knew found out they would be so angry at me, especially my dad, my dad would go mad at me.

Liam must've picked up on it, he was straight to asking me if I was okay.

"Y'alright Mads? You look upset." He nudged me with his elbow, putting his tea down on the bedside table.

"I don't want to upset my parents, they'll be so angry I've not waited until marriage. My mum will be heartbroken." I whispered in response, looking down at my lap. "It makes me feel so guilty, and I know I shouldn't. It's stupid really. It was a perfect moment and the only thing I can think now is that my parents will be angry and that God won't forgive me."

"Ya don't sound stupid." He shook his head at me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "I get it, ya want your parents to be proud of you. I want me ma to be proud of me too. And I want ya to know that I'll stick with ya every step of the way, if you're feeling guilty or not."

I nodded to what he was saying and smiled softly when he kissed me on the forehead.

"We're in this together, Mads." He whispered.
