It was no surprise that Atsushi could turn into a full grown tiger. In fact, that was literally his whole ability. What was surprising though, was when Atsushi was taking a nice nap in between breaks at his desk and Kunikida turned over and bam! A cat. Well, it went something like:

It was a slow day in the Armed Detective Agency. A week has passed since the gifted suicide case which turned out to be the victims not committing suicide via their ability but being outright murdered by them.

Their building office was fixed. Everyone had finally recuperated and healed from the injuries they had attained from fighting against their ability. Atsushi, who just came back from his lunch break plopped his head down on his desk table as soon as he sat.

It felt nice, really. His stomach was full, friends were chatting away, everyone was safe and the soft ray of the afternoon sun felt all too nice on his skin.

"M' sleepy."

"You just had your break, Atsushi" Kunikida half-heartedly scolded the kid, who was all to exhausted to do anything but groan in displeasure.

The older man, in turn, just sighed. Watching as the kid turned his head over and fell asleep in bliss. "It better only be a short nap" He grumbled under his breath. God, handling kids was tiring.

"Aww...Looks like our tiger is taking a little cat nap!" Dazai chirped, leaning over Atsushi's sleeping figure. Smug smile spread across his all too handsome face.

"But THAT doesn't permit you a break, get back to work! You waste of bandages" Kunikida not so half-heartedly scolded the man. Completely done, exhausted, and annoyed by his insufferable antics.

"Awwww, no fair!" Dazai said, but never really went back to work. He simply just leaned back in his chair. Kunikida glared at him through his glasses.

Eventually though, the crumbling of Ranpo's candy wrappers, little chatters of the-...interesting pair of siblings, Dazai humming through his thin soft lips, and Kunikida typing filled the room. Everyone falling into a peaceful trance of their own little Worlds. Until suddenly, a small poof of blue smoke disrupted their peace. All of them suddenly alert, turning to face the source of the smoke. Only for soft purring to be heard across the room.

Atsushi-or well, the cat that sitting in place of Atsushi was well...sleeping...rather peacefully. Cute fluffy little thing minding its own business, unaware of the shock of the people around him.

Everyone was silent for a good minute before Kunikida spoke.

"I-...Is that ATSUSHI?!"

The loud noise disrupted the cats sleep. Making him twitch his ears and blink his pretty eyes open. Large beautiful eyes. Like the sunset of the evening blending into night itself had been paused in time. Lavender bleeding into honey golden. They were undeniably, Atsushi's eyes.

"I believe it is, Kunikida-Kun!" Dazai spoke next. Clearly amused by the situation. He leaned his hand down to pet his fur but hesitated and drew back. No...

And abrupt squealing could be heard escape Naomi's lips. "OH He looks so CUTE!" Quickly, taking out her phone, she took several pictures of Atsushi-no...Catsushi?

Atsushi lifted his head and turned over to Dazai. Looking at him with wide, fascinated, all too pretty dual toned eyes, unknowing of the consequences of his following actions.

"Meow"

Dazai could swear he felt his poor heart melt at the sweet sound escaping the cats lips. The ADA successfully fell head over heels over the cute sound he made.

The cat tilted his head to the side, clearly enjoying Dazai's demeanor fall and be replaced with a soft expression.

"Meow!"

"Oh...Oh my!" Yosano grinned, a faint blush tinting her cheeks. How could Catsushi be ever so cute. Meanwhile, Kunikida was cleaning his glasses and squinting his eyes desperately in the hopes he was hallucinating.

Dazai grinned ever so sweetly at him, picking him up by the scruff of his neck. Giving him many displeased gasps and even a bit of hissing from Catsushi before he turned back into a human, his mentor setting him back down on his desk. This earned him many upset and betrayed looks.

Atsushi in turn, slowly got up, yawning and stretching before his eyes lazily opened. The frst thing he saw was upset looks. "I-what happened?"

"You,*Dazai placed his palm on Atsushi's shoulder* turned into a cat"

"I turned into a WHAT?" He turned to meet his mentor's gaze. Eyes wide with surprise.

"You turned into a cat."

"I-Is this true?" Atsushi turned helplessly to the rest of the ADA.

"Yup! We have proof" Naomi said, showing him a photo of indeed, Catsushi.

Atsushi felt like he was dying in embarrassment. He really just wanted to dig a hole and bury himself forever.

Later that day...

"When did you realize you could turn into a cat?" Kunikida interrogated him.

"I didn't even know I could!" Atsushi spoke in response.

"What do you think turned you into cute little kitty? Hmm, At-su-shi-Kun~!" His mentor teased. Being all too entertained by his mentee's misery.

"I don't know!" Atsushi retorted, face flushing in embarrassment.

"I would say since hes finally accepting his ability, this is kind of a way f his ability...bonding with him?" Tanizaki spoke, gazing softly at the others.

"Maybe I should dissect him to check!" Yosano said, wiggling her fingers at the poor kid.

"Thou Im not a cat..." Atsushi grumbled. For gods sake, he wasn't even a cat, he was a tiger!

"Oh please, you were so cute as one!" Naomi gushed at him.

"Tanizaki's pretty correct, I'm pretty sure the cat form is a way of his ability telling him hes getting used to the ability." Dazai offered.

"What do you mean?" The tiger, totally-not-cat asked.

"What he means, since Atsushi cant fully control the tigers full form. The cat form is like a subdued version. Once he learns to control that, I reckon he'll be able to access the full potential and control over his ability." Ranpo, the eldest of them, deduced.

"Correct!" Dazai spoke, handing the man a lollipop he gladly took.

"I mean, I don't know about you. But I LOVE seeing Atsushi as Catsushi!" Naomi giggled.

"C-Cat sushi!?" Atsushi questioned, to which everyone else wordlessly nodded in agreement.

"For gods sake, I'm a tiger, not a cat!"

Safe to say, the ADA already adored the kid when he was a human. But as a cute little furball, they absolutely fawned over him.

And, there were more than one instances where Kunikida had to beat the whole ADA back to work whenever Atsushi randomly turned into a cat. Or manhandle Dazai into turning him back, passing him many begrudging and upset looks.

I FAWN over giving Tanizaki a little more spotlight. I wasnt able to give him a lot in this fic. But I will in future catsushi fics. This is kinda like a prologue, after this, chapters will be just follow ups where catsushi spends time with them.
