His lungs felt like they were burning but he couldn't stop.

And he wouldn't stop even if he wanted.

He knew better. He never should've left him alone. He had said time and time again that he was scared to be felt alone. That something felt wrong and he should have listened. He had promised his dear husband that he would be fine. It was naive of him to ever think so. He told him he was just going out for a few hours and that he would be back in no time. He had looked his husband in the face and told him he would be alright at home. All alone.

He was a fool.

He rushed towards their home and froze when he saw the door was already slightly ajar. He pushed it open with his heart beating rapidly in his ribcage. As soon as he stepped into his home he noticed all the lights were off, meaning he had to blindly navigate his way through the eerily quiet and still hallway. It was weird how he couldn't hear anything throughout. "Seonghwa!" He called for his spouse but got nothing in response.

He walked half-blind all through until he reached their living room which was dimly lit by only the lamp in the corner, the rest of the light was coming from the big glass doors that filtered the moonlight's rays into the dark room. But even with the sparse light coming through, there was no way he couldn't make out his husband's slumped figure on the ground. He inwardly sighed in relief that at least he was here but that brought up another question. Why was he on the ground? "Fuck, Seonghwa. Are you alright?" He tried to get closer.

Hongjoong edged closer to him but suddenly, the ground felt weird under his feet and he almost slipped on the wooden floors. It felt slimy and slippery to walk on especially since he didn't have his indoor slippers as he was in a hurry to get to the other. He found it very odd... He glanced down and his heart dropped to his stomach as it violently churned. The stark contrast of the liquid on his feet. His eyes slowly lifted from the wet ground and their eyes met at that moment and finally, that was when his sight adjusted to the dark of the room.

There, in the dead of night sat his husband, tears running down his face as blood stained his hands, his face, the front of his shirt and sweatpants. He looked at the lifeless body next to his sodding husband and their kitchen knife close by. The person was lying on the ground, probably long dead if the large pool of blood in their living room was anything to go by. He stood frozen in place as reality sunk in for him.

There was a dead body in their home.

"Fuck!"
