Things were happening to fast.
No time to process, it was chaotic.
The footsteps were loud as they ran.

Making sure she was safe, I held her hand, holding it to dear life!

I don't remember how this happened, me and Maria were just minding our own business, that was till loud alarms went on. Right after those loud alarms, the professor came in telling us to run, before I could even speak, that was when they showed up!

I didn't know who they were but they were a threat!

And if they were going to hurt Maria or The Professor, I'll make sure they'll regret it!

No mercy even!

I tried my best to protect her.
She was safe, thankfully.

We finally lost them, when we took a turn. I couldn't process what was her plan, as we were in a room. She picked me up, putting me inside of a tube.

I didn't understand what was her plan, she told me to calm down. She only focus on my safety, as she tried her best to calm me down.

That's when I realized, her plan was for me to escape..

"I wish I can go with you." She spoke, her hand touching the glass.
"Maria! I can't leave you here, there needs to be a better way!" I protested.

"I'm sorry Shadow, this is the only way.."

Silence filled the room. Her face turned away, as small tears filled her eyes. I couldn't bare to watch!

"Just promise me one thing Shadow." Maria says, breaking the silence.
"Anything for you." I responded, trying my best to not cry.

"Promise me, promise me that you will protect the people on earth, for my sake! And please give anyone a chance to be happy, do it for me.." She pleaded, she smiles softly.

"Bring hope to humanity" she continues.

I hesitated, that was a big promise..
But, like I said.. anything for her..

"I, I promise.."

Before she could thank me, disaster struck.

Maria was held at gunpoint..

We were caught..

She didn't let go of the lever, even though the officer told her to.

I wanted to break the glass the save her, protect her, banging on the glass, begging her to not pull the lever.

"Sayonara.. Shadow The Hedgehog"

She pulled the lever..

Gunshots.

Those loud sounds echoed.

I was stuck in place to see the horror in front of me.
Blood formed on her chest, the once blue shirt was now covered in red.

It spread, onto the ground as she fell..
I couldn't watch, this needed to be a nightmare!
This had to be, there's no way..

I wanted to wake up right now and Maria hugging me in her arms, telling me that it was all a dream and that no one was going to hurt us.

Unfortunately, it wasn't going to happen..

"MARIA!!"

Maria was gone..
I lost her..

I FAILED TO PROTECT HER...
I FAILED TO CURE HER..
I failed.

As I blinked, she was no longer there.
I was blasted down to earth..

Shit.

..

I woke up, it was a nightmare.

It was one of those nights, those nights where that horrible memory will haunt me. I couldn't even have one peaceful night without that awful memory looping around my head, it was like a bruise that wouldn't stop hurting.

Nothing has changed, it's been like this for years..

I should have been used to this by now but shit, it fucking hurts.. it hurts to remember the hat dreaded memory.

I sat up from my bed, looking at the alarm clock next to me.
It was like four in the morning.

I laid back down in my bed.
Trying to find a good position to sleep, but I couldn't.

This is going to be a long night..
