Paper Planes
A Thirdy Ravena and Bea de Leon oneshot fanfiction
Thirdy Ravena looked at his surroundings and fought the urge to roll his eyes. He was Thirdy FREAKING Ravena for crying out loud! And he did not understand why he had to be in an orphanage with his teammates. He was prepared to break the neck of whoever thought of this kind of community service, outreach program or whatever the hell people would want to call it.
After winning the UAAP Season 78 Men's Basketball Championship with his Manong Kiefer, who was graduating and moving on to PBA along with Ateneo's other veteran Von Pessumal, Thirdy has then stepped in as the co-captain despite only being a Junior. Now that he's on his fifth and last playing year in the UAAP, it's only right for him to wear the captain's shoes that his brother once wore. They have been the champions for three straight years now and with him as the captain, he's eager to claim his team's fourth.
Thirdy, despite being still an undergrad, has already opened businesses along with his brother. He also earns millions from the various products that he and his family endorses.
With all the good things happening around him, Thirdy Ravena lost his self over the years. The once kind, loving, compassionate, happy-go-lucky, and prank-playing Thirdy is gone.
And it all began when he lost his Air. He stopped breathing.
She came into his life like air. Soft and pleasant like the scent of freshly cut grass, sweet and compelling like a sip of fine champagne, and crisp like an apple plucked straight from the branch. She became his Air.
But like air, she left. Without a trace.
Thirdy began to think of all their bygone days, of how she would smile gleefully at him, of how she would try to hurt his ego (but would always fail because it would only turn out cute) every now and then, of how she would always frown whenever she could not figure out her Math homework, of how he smashed volleyballs like Hulk when she's angry, and of how beautiful she always was - and probably still is. Thirdy smiled at the memories.
But his smile quickly faded when he remembered how she left him. Cold like air.
"Huy, okay ka lang?" Arvin asked his teammate and best friend, snapping him off of his reverie.
Thirdy rolled his eyes for the nth time that day. "Remind me again whose brilliant idea it was to come here," he uninterestingly said.
Arvin chuckled. "Blame Coach. It was his idea."
Arvin continued to chuckle and shake his head in defeat. Deep inside, he was worried about his friend, his brother. Thirdy has changed so much. The community services he hates so much now are the exact same thing he was so passionate for before.
Now, the only "community service" he does is writing huge checks to different charities and organizations that came to him for help. This has earned him the title, "The Playing Philanthropist of the Philippines."
"Hey," Coach Bo greeted Thirdy, sitting next to him. "You've been frowning the entire morning, Boy. Still don't like community services?"
"Sorry, Coach. It just reminds me of... never mind," he heartlessly apologized. "I'm just not in the mood."
Coach Bo heaved a sigh. He knew exactly who reminded his team's captain and best player of community services - after all, he has also grown close to that someone after spending so much time doing charity together.
"You've never been in the right mood since the Season 78 championship," Coach Bo noted, looking at Thirdy for any sign of emotion.
Thirdy blankly looked at his coach. "Please don't remind me."
