Chapter Five:
"Hey." I whisper quietly standing next to him.
"Hey." He gazes up and at me and smiles.
"I saved you a seat, are you going to sit down?" He looks at me expectantly. I nod and sit down next to him. He takes his jacket off and places it on my shoulders.
"You look cold." He smiles again sweetly.
"Thank you Dane, I love you." I take his face in my hands and press my lips to his gently.
He stares into my eyes once we break away and replies.
"I love you too." I giggle slightly and shift round so I can lean my head on his shoulder. Dylan has got up to put some music on. After a couple of seconds Cheerleader starting playing causing everyone to laugh. Dane had gone of with Joe and Amber to get some food. He said he'd bring me something back. He's so sweet. I looked through the fire and saw Tyler. He was away from the group now. Leaning on a tree, smoking. I noticed him start to move towards me, but he quickly changed direction and disappeared indoors.
Dane returned and handed me a cheese burger. I smiled gratefully as I took a bite.
"Do you want a drink?" He asked with one hand behind his back.
I nodded as my mouth was full, he brought his hand round to his front and gave me a bottle of red berry and lime Bulmers. I smiled brightly at him as I swigged on the bottle. He knows me too well.
After many hours and quite a few drinks later, it was about half eleven. Ashley and Josh had brought out blankets for everyone. There were only four blankets so it was three to a blanket. Tyler was still indoors so me and Dane had a blanket to ourselves. I rested my head on Dane's shoulder and he rested his arm on my leg under the blanket. We were gathered around the fire with the guys trying to tell scary stories. Summer and Amber were hanging off every ill formed word they spoke. Their stories weren't even scary. Me, Dane, Ashley and Josh were all laughing as we'd heard these shitty stories thousands of times before, but Amber and Summer were new, and had no idea.
I was laughing so hard I barely noticed a slightly tipsy Tyler sliding under the blanket, sandwiching me between him and Dane. When I looked at him I noticed he was smirking. I felt his hand touching the side on my thigh and slide up onto the top of my thigh, directly opposite Dane's hand. I stiffened and looked at Dane, who seemed to be completely oblivious. I tried not to draw attention to myself as I attempted to push Tyler's hand of my leg. However Tyler simply tightened his grip on my leg. I let go and scowled at Tyler, he just smirked back. He began to move his hand again, this time towards the inside of my thigh. I squirmed in my seat as he moved closer and closer to my.. area. Dane was still oblivious. I moved down in my seat slightly as Tyler's hand kept moving. He reached the top of my thigh, lingered and then moved his hand away. I sat up properly and looked over at him. He was looking forward as if he hadn't be centimetres away from violating me. I stood up and started to walk towards my bedroom.
"Hey, wait! Where are you going?" Dane gripped my wrist, I turned and smiled at him.
"I don't feel very well, I'm going to go to sleep." He nodded and let go of my wrist. I continued walking to my bedroom. I walked through the door and shut it. I rested my head on the door for a little while before walking over to my bed and lying down.
I closed my eyes and grimaced. I can't believe I let that happen.. and so close to Dane. I shook my head and sighed. I can't believe I wanted him to continue. Groaning, I rolled over to face my wall. The door creaked open and I heard someone walk through.
"I'm really not in the mood Tyler." I barked as I felt the side of my bed dip.
"It's Ashley.." She sounded confused, not that I blame her.
I rolled over and she looked at me accusingly.
"So what's going on with you and Tyler then?" Her stare was cold and hard. I felt so guilty.
"Nothing." I replied defensively.
"Hm.. Fine, but if there is something, I'm the first person you tell. Okay?"
"Okay." She pulled me in for a hug, which I gladly returned. I should tell her. She's been my best friend since the day we were born. She pulled back and looked at me.
"Dane said you didn't feel well, so I brought you Dorito's and Gatorade." She smiled and handed me my snacks. See she knows me so well, these have been my feel good foods since I was about five.
"Thank you, so much." I smiled back and my best friend, at the sister I wish I had.
"Do you want me to stay with you?" She cocked her head to the side and pushed my hair behind my ear.
"No, I know you want to spend the night with Josh." I joked shoving her shoulder. She laughed slightly and got off my bed.
"Okay, well I hope you feel better, were going rock jumping tomorrow!" She clapped her hands together like a little child. I giggled slightly as she back out the door, shutting it quietly.
After about 20 minutes of peace and quiet, I was disturbed by a now very drunk Tyler. Is drinking the only thing he can do? I sat up and shook my head.
"What's up with you?" He asked, judgementally.
"I don't feel well, so if you don't mind keeping it down, that would be great." After seeing him nod his head sarcastically, I rolled back over.
"Why are there Dorito's and Gatorade everywhere?" He asked, clearly not understand the phrase, 'keep it down'.
"They're my feel good food. They make me feel better when I'm ill." I huff and pull my blanket over my shoulders.
"Huh." I hear him stumble around after flicking the light off, trying to get under his covers.
I closed my eyes, trying to block out today as much as possible. Just as I was drifting off to sleep, I heard Tyler muttering. I was just about to tell him to be quiet when he muttered.
"Goodnight, Jamie." I smiled slightly and replied.
"Goodnight, Tyler."
