"We still have another meeting to attend, Ma'am. Is there anything else you need?"
Another week has passed again, and I've been loaded with tons of work. The company's brand-new product just came out and thankfully, we received a lot of good feedback from the first customers who purchased the product. I sighed after laying my ass down on my office chair, massaging my temple.
"Get me coffee. The usual one." I spoke.
"On it, Ma'am."
When Bea left, I pulled myself up to start working again by reading the documents on my table. I have to review some proposals and reports by each department regarding the new product. I puffed my cheeks and widened my eyes when I suddenly felt sleepy. Bea came back while I was signing some papers.
"Here's your coffee, Ma'am," she giggled, making me look up to her. My eyes turned to look at her hands which held a rose. An ivory rose. She placed them beside my coffee. "Sir Reiven wanted to give this to you. He left already and told me to tell you that he doesn't want to bother you during work."
I reached for the rose and stared at it. It made me smile after a moment. "Thank you, Bea. You can go now."
Recently, I've also been receiving roses from Reiven. Yesterday, he went home early with three roses in his hands. I don't know why he suddenly thought of giving me roses. He has never done that before, except when there's some event to celebrate like our anniversary.
I am bothered about what happened after we bought our groceries. Reiven wanted me to stay away from Johan. As much as I wanted to know why, I feel like my husband wouldn't like to talk about it if I asked him, but I couldn't help feeling so bothered about it. I'm not even part of their feud, but is it because Reiven is my husband now that's why I feel included?
My phone rang when I was about to take a sip of my coffee. I picked it up after seeing my mom's name.
"Mom?"
[Flora, sweetie, how are you?]
I smiled after hearing her voice. "I'm doing fine, Mom. Just working. Is everything okay?"
[Oh, I just feel lonely here, anak. Your father went fishing with his friends. He made me so mad and still has his damn guts to leave me here instead of making it up to me?!]
I laughed after hearing how she ranted. I listened to all her stories while working on the documents on my desk. She's not bothering me at all, in fact, I needed this. I wanted to get my mind off about Reiven's feud with Johan.
[How's your married life, Flora?]
I stopped reading and leaned on the chair, thinking about her question. What should I say? Is it still the same? just married.
"It's doing..." I shrugged and glanced at my fingernails. "...quite good."
[Is there something wrong?]
Her voice suddenly changed. I smiled to myself. "Everything's going just fine, Mom."
I heard her sigh in the other line. She became silent for a minute, and I know she's thinking about something, so I gave her time to do that.
"Do you want me to have dinner with you?" I asked after her long silence.
[I'll cook your favorite.]
I smiled cheekily. "Okay, Mom."
She dropped the call after reminding me that I should not pressure myself while working. I left Reiven a message that I will be home late since I'll spend dinner with my mother. I had to do that since he might cook dinner and wait for me to go home. I don't know what's going on with his mind these past days, so I might as well draw the possibilities I could think of.
