Sincere: The Sequal

Chapter 14

Omniscient

Sincere sat near the playground watching her kids, saddened that it was her last day. After today, she would be taking her maternity leave. She was officially 37 weeks pregnant today.

"You look like you're ready to pop girl." One of the younger teachers Trina joked.

"It feels like I am." Sincere laughed, rubbing her belly.

"Are you excited for her arrival?" Trina questioned.

"Excited and nervous. You know I have preeclampsia so I'm nervous about giving birth."

"My mom said she had that when she had me but she said her delivery went smoothly."

"I'm hoping for that same outcome."

"I'm sure you'll be alright." Trina gave her a genuine smile. "Make sure you send us lots of pictures when she's born, I know she's going to be pretty."

"I will." Sincere assured her.

Sincere and the rest of the staff stayed outside with the kids for about twenty more minutes then everyone went back to their classrooms. When they were back inside of the classroom Sincere got her kids ready for nap time. Everyday they would go to lunch, recess if they'd been good, then take a nap afterwards.

While the kids were asleep, Sincere placed her feet on her desk and watched a movie to stay up. She'd gotten to the point of pregnancy where all she wanted to do was sleep and relax. She was glad this was her last day, she didn't understand how women worked all the way until their due date. She didn't even understand how she'd made it this far. Being pregnant and dealing with kindergartners was no joke.

By the end of the day, Sincere was worn out. After the kids had their nap, it was as if something had taken over them. They wouldn't listen nor sit down. Sincere had to keep repeating herself over and over.

Sincere sighed as she gathered her things and grabbed her keys to look her classroom door. Once it was locked, she peaked inside of Trina's classroom where she was gathering her things.

"Hey, girl you coming to the meeting?" Sincere questioned. For some odd reason they were having a meeting today after school today. Sincere didn't know what that was about, they never had meetings on Fridays.

"Yeah, you want to walk there together? I'm just getting my stuff together."

"Yeah, that's fine." Sincere waited on Trina to gather her things. When she was finished they began walking towards the meeting room.

Trina pushed the door open for Sincere, letting her enter the room first. "Surprise!" Everyone exclaimed. Sincere looked around the room in shock. There were pink decorations everyone.

"Y'all planned me a baby shower?" Sincere questioned, trying to control her emotions. "This is so sweet." Sincere wiped the tears that began falling.

"You deserve it, now stop all that crying and let's get this party started!" Trina exclaimed. She'd been the one to suggest having Sincere one. Everyone loved Sincere's cheerful spirit and they wanted to do something nice for her.

At the baby shower they played lots of games and ate good food. They'd ordered a variety of food from different places. At the end, Sincere opened some of her gifts for everyone to see. They'd gotten her all kinds of things, from outfits to bottle sterilizers. Sincere was extremely blessed, her and Que hadn't had to buy much for their baby. Last week, she'd had a baby shower planned by her mother and mother in law and she'd gotten numerous gifts.
