A UNFAMILAR PLACE-003

My name is Daryl Dixon, me, my daughter Cassidy Dixon, and Hershel Rhee come from a place called the Commonwealth. It's in America. We went out looking for something, and all we found was trouble. If we don't make it back, we want them to know we've tried...I want my sons to know that I've tried. Hell, we're still trying.

Daryl grunted as he stumbled out of the water and fall face first into the sandy shore. He coughed, spitting out a bit of water, and moved wet hair out of his face. "Cassie," He mumbled, pushing himself into his knees. "Hershel,"

"Right here," A horsed voice called out to him, the oldest Daryl looked and saw Hershel crawling onto the shore, his hat was clutched in his hand.

"You okay?" The redneck asked, stumbling to his feet as he looked around for his daughter. "Where's Cassie?"

Hershel snapped his head up to his mother's friend, before glancing around for the blue-eyed girl. "I don't know." He scrambled up and yelled. "Cassie!"

"Cassidy!" Daryl shouted; panic laced in his voice. His heart pounded in his chest fastly as he ran back into the water, searching frantically for Cassie. "Cassie!"

Hershel had followed him, diving into the water and searched for his friend underneath the water. He frantically looked around, his eyes began to burn from the salt in the water, but he ignored it. He emerged from the water, sucking a breath of air before diving back under and swam around.

Daryl was beside himself as he flipped over the boat that they were tied on and growled in frustration when Cassie wasn't underneath it. He shouted for her again, his voice weaving her slightly with panic, and seemed to be on the urge of crying.

"Daryl! I got her!" Hershel's voice called when the boy had emerged from the water again with Cassie in his arms.

"Fuck!" Cassidy's father cursed as he rushed toward the boy and helped him drag his daughter to shore.

He laid her down, waiting for her to wake up, but she's didn't. A wave of panic flooded Daryl as he started CPR on his girl. "Come on, Cassie, come on," He muttered as the memory of Cassie being shot flooded his brain, it was just like last time.

Hershel's face was pale as he seemed to be holding back the bile that ran up his throat, watching helplessly. It felt like an entity passed, but to the two's relief, Cassidy suddenly gasped for air before coughing up the water that she had swallowed. Daryl rolled her on her side, patting her back and let the water clear from her airways.

"Fucking hell, Cassie," Daryl breathed out as he helped his daughter sit up and wrapped his arms around her, her body shook and clung tightly to him. "You're okay. You're okay, Cas. I got you, baby, I got you,"
