Everything seemed to be going well so far, I've received quite a few compliments and each one happened to soothe my nerves in some way.

I was partially done with everything, the last thing I had to do was bring out the desserts in forty five minutes.

Which gave me time to hang out with Nova a little bit.

I felt really bad for blowing her off earlier but, this was what I was getting paid for. This is everything I've been working towards for the past twenty five days, and a huge amount of money was on the line.

But I still felt bad, which is why I wanted to make it up. I was heading up to Nova's floor to change clothes, so we could hang out, and of course dance.

I'm pretty sure her and Donovan were done already, I even think I saw her in the crowd at some point, so when I was going to meet her in a while it would be a complete surprise.

I was practically finished already and it was barely twelve.

I walked through the almost empty estate heading to the elevator. But when I was approaching it the doors dinged open, revealing Donovan walking out, I assume he was going back to the party outside.

Something looked off though.

I just couldn't put my finger on it.

"Oh I think I saw Nova outside talking with some family members." he said making his way toward me.

"I was going up to my room so I could change, thank you though." I lied, but I couldn't help but wonder why he assumed I was automatically looking for Nova.

I stepped onto the elevator, going to the usual floor and I couldn't help but feel weird.

Something definitely felt wrong in a way.

It was probably just me over thinking it already, I mean everything was running smoothly so far.

But that blissful wave of relief wouldn't fully wash over me until the last person left the estate tonight.

But until then...

I halted the thought when the doors glided open and as soon as I did I was twisting the knob on Nova's door.

But I halted my actions and peered into the kitchen.

A quick snack couldn't hurt... I haven't eaten any actual food all day.

I was basically on break anyways.

I made my way toward the kitchen opening the cabinets. I scanned around each one looking for a possible granola bar or anything light that I could eat on the way down.

When I finally found a granola bar I let out a sigh of relief and placed it on the island to reclose all the cabinets.

But as I placed it on the island I furrowed my brows.

As I leaned closer to it I was wondering if I was seeing correctly.

And when I inched closer, it seemed all of my thoughts were confirmed.

I stared deeply at the tiny dark red drop, creating scenarios in my head on why this might be here.

And although I didn't want to— my mind immediately went to something negative.

I tried pushing the thought away as I grabbed the granola bar and tore my gaze away from the counter.

I glanced into Nova's living room and my eyes unintentionally narrowed, noticing the sun beaming through the glass balcony wall, landing right on her carpet.
