Everyone in the hallway fell silent as the doctor waited to break the news.

My heart was pounding in my chest just thinking about what he going to tell us right now.

His expression was entirely hard to read and that only seemed to make my once calm thoughts seem to race once more.

I was going through every possible scenario on how I would react to what was about to be said.

I just needed to know that she was okay.

He sucked in a deep breath, "Luckily enough we were about to stop the bleeding, but..." he abruptly stopped inhaling a sharp breath.

Please, let her be okay.

"—She did lose a lot of blood, but she is stable of course and is now in recovery." he continued and I immediately let out a breath of relief.

Noah jumped out of his seat pulling Zane in for an extremely rough hug, causing a smile to break out on my face.

"She is still asleep because of the anesthesia that's still in effect, but she should be awake soon, you guys can go in and see her, I'll be close by if you need me." he added, and after a few nods and conversations with Damon, Nora, and Noah he had left completely.

I kept my gaze locked on the slightly cracked open door, ultimately deciding if it would be appropriate for me to go in there.

I didn't want to go in before her actual family and I of course didn't know if it was too soon, I was trying my best to not be an inconvenience in any way.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when a hand landed on my shoulder, causing me to peel my gaze away from the cracked door.

I looked up to find Nora above me, giving me a look full of understanding, "You could go in first, if she's awake I think she'd want to see you the most." she whispered.

I sat there dumbfounded for a few seconds before she motioned her head over to the door, "Go on." she urged me.

I stood up from the seat to my full height, slowly making my way over to the door. I slowly pushed the door open to the dimly lit room, before closing it behind me.

And I was trying my absolute best not to let out tears of joy.

I quietly walked closer toward the hospital bed scanning her appearance.

Her eyes were gently closed and her lips were parted like she was sleeping peacefully. As my eyes trailed lower though I did see the extensive amount of bandages wrapped around her torso and it did make a slight frown appear on my lips.

But above all I was more than happy that she was okay.

I remained still, next to the bed like she was some priceless artifact, needing to be looked at from a distance or else it'll break.

After pulling up a chair and being in her presence for a little over twenty minutes I thought it was best that I leave to give her family some time with her.

I stood up from the chair before slowly and carefully— and I mean really carefully, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead.

I pulled away, taking in her state one final time.

And as I went to turn on my heel, Nova jolted awake.

I jumped slightly being completely caught off guard, especially since I thought I had a few more hours before the anesthesia wore off.

I rushed back to her side, "You have to lay down, you might pop your stitches," I quickly said, grabbing her shoulders to lie her back down.

Which was extremely hard to do, it was like she was locked in place.
