With a sharp intake of breath, I was abruptly wrenched from the depths of slumber, my eyelids refusing to shed their veneer of heaviness. Yet, a gripping terror seized hold of me as the full realization of where I was settled heavily upon my consciousness.
In my exhaustion, I had inadvertently found myself in Sunghoon's room, and this truth invoked an unsettling dread. The mere thought of lifting my eyelids now filled me with an icy trepidation.
Would I now find myself face to face with the nightmarish visage of an intimidating Sunghoon, his eyes piercing through me with an unsettling intensity?
I tentatively coax my eyelids to part, fully aware that I cannot feign sleep forever. The instant my eyes are fully opened, a sigh of relief escapes me, for there is no menacing Sunghoon-like creature waiting to greet me. I lift myself from the bed and take in the sight of my surroundings, every detail coming into stark focus.
"The coast is clear."
As I continued to survey my surroundings, a puzzled expression crossed my face. This room did not appear to be Sunghoon's.
My gaze lowered to my clothing, and it was then that I noticed they were not what I remembered wearing before.
"What the goddamm fuck?! I don't remember changing-"
My eyes widened in stark denial, and an involuntary gasp escaped my lips. How could this be possible? I fervently shook my head, trying to dispel the horrifying thoughts that were consuming my mind.
"No," I adamantly protested, my voice laced with a hint of desperation. "They are princes, for heaven's sake. They are supposed to be decent individuals. It cannot be true." I clutched onto the fragile hope that my fears were baseless, as if it were my sole lifeline amidst this sea of uncertainty.
I nodded to myself, silently confirming my resolve before rising from the bed.
My eyes scanned the vastness of the room, and I was struck by its grandeur, far exceeding the boundaries of any room I had ever seen within the Palace.
Utterly bewildered, I questioned the reason for my presence in this unfamiliar yet opulent space.
The room exuded opulence, the very atmosphere suffused with a luxurious aura. As I reached out to open the doors, my hand paused upon noticing a note, snugly ensconced between the two colossal doors. With curiosity piqued, I seized the note and unfolded it, eagerly scanning the message contained within.
The message, written in Sunghoon's unmistakable handwriting, greeted my eyes.
"Do not concern yourself with us. We have gone to attend the King's court. Make yourself comfortable within the room. You are free to explore and amuse yourself, but do not venture outside.
-Sunghoon."
The words "King's court" triggered a sudden realization within me, sending a wave of disbelief crashing over my thoughts. "No," I thought, "this cannot be real. The King's court is situated outside the Palace, is it not?"
However, the pieces began to fall into place, and a chilling suspicion dawned upon me. Was it possible that I had found myself in the Royal Palace, the very heart of power and intrigue?
IFrustration welled up within me, as I yearned to uncover the truth behind my current situation. Yet, the directive stated in the letter was clear—I was forbidden to leave the room. Despite my burning curiosity, there seemed to be no immediate source to quench my thirst for knowledge. With time to spare until the boys returned, I reluctantly acquiesced to the instructions.
