YOU!

the buzzing intensified as jay regained consciousness. the sharp light pierced his eyes, and a groan escaped his lips as he rolled onto his side, regretting every drop of the extra bottle of soju he had downed the night before. his head throbbed like a relentless drumbeat, each pulse a harsh reminder of his reckless decisions. his mouth was dry, his body heavy, and every sound felt like it was amplified a hundred times over.

through the haze, the incessant buzzing of his phone grew louder, an irritating constant that refused to be ignored. jay fumbled for it on the nightstand, his fingers clumsy and uncoordinated. pressing it to his ear, he muttered a hoarse, "hello?"

"finally! where the hell have you been? i was worried sick," his manager's voice boomed through the speaker, sharp and scolding.

"hyung, i'm sorry," jay croaked, his voice barely audible over the pounding in his skull. "i drank too much last night." guilt laced his words, knowing he'd likely missed something important.

there was a heavy sigh on the other end. "it's okay. but that means you haven't seen the news."

"news? what news?" jay asked, his confusion breaking through the fog of his hangover.

"about you and sunoo."

the name hit him like a punch to the gut, pulling him fully awake. his mind went blank for a moment, struggling to process. "sunoo?" he repeated, his voice cracking.

"yes, sunoo. there's a joint statement from hybe and ptd announcing... announcing-"

jay didn't wait to hear the rest. his heart pounded as he ended the call abruptly, the weight of those words enough to jolt him into action. his headache was forgotten as he threw the covers off and stumbled toward the table. fumbling with trembling hands, he opened his laptop and typed his name into the search bar.

the screen lit up with headlines, bold and sensational:

"enhypen's sunoo and ptd's jay: a new k-pop power couple?"
"fake or fate? the truth behind jay and sunoo's shocking dating announcement!"

jay froze, staring at the screen in disbelief. his heart pounded as he tried to make sense of what he was seeing. his company had announced that he was dating sunoo? sunoo-the rookie he'd barely exchanged a handful of words with during their brief encounters at music bank? the absurdity of it all was almost laughable if it didn't feel like his entire world was crashing down around him.

a surge of anger rose within him, overpowering the lingering grogginess. his carefully cultivated image-the cool and composed rapper of ptd-was now at risk, all because of a baseless pr stunt. how could they make such a monumental decision without even consulting him?

the sharp buzz of his phone interrupted his spiraling thoughts. he glanced at the screen: heeseung.

"jay, what the heck is going on?" heeseung's voice was sharp, laced with worry and confusion.

"i don't know," jay admitted, his frustration bubbling to the surface. "i had no idea this was happening. they didn't even tell me."

"well, we're talking to pd-nim about this," heeseung said firmly, his tone resolute. "meet us at the practice room in an hour. we'll figure this out."

jay hung up and let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through his disheveled hair. his gaze drifted back to the headlines on the screen. attached to the top article was a photo of him and sunoo-a snapshot that seemed candid but was clearly edited. the composition was almost too perfect, as if someone had gone out of their way to make it look believable.

his stomach churned with a strange, uneasy feeling. this wasn't just about the headlines or the false narrative being spun. it was about the implications-the ripple effects that this fabricated story would have on his career, his relationships, and his mental health.

jay closed the laptop with a shaky hand, trying to calm the storm raging inside him. he knew he wasn't alone in this-heeseung and the rest of his bandmates would have his back-but the weight of the situation felt crushing.

he leaned against the table, his mind racing. this wasn't just a storm-it was the beginning of a hurricane. and jay wasn't sure if he was ready for the fight ahead.
